By this private Tour of Montecassino you will visit the headquarters of the first German paratrooper division. I'm Anna Maria Priora, an Italian licensed tour guide with a PhD in WWII history in Italy at the Humboldt University of Berlin. I will be happy to share with you the most important events of the 4 Battles of Cassino, but also the personal Veterans' stories, remembering that memory is very important for our future! I will pick you up with my Italian Minivan at the train station of Cassino and I will start to show you shortly the new town, totally rebuilt after the war. We will stop in the town, where the German Headquarter was, and then we will see Castle Hill (where the Kiwis and the Gurkas tried to attack the Abbey) and at the Belvedere, where I will show you the Liri valley where the battles took place. We are going to visit the Abbey of Monte Cassino on a WW2 point of view, and then we will pay a visit to the Commonwealt Cemetery. (search "Anna Maria Priora" on Google to have a more complete view of all my tours)
Inclusions: Private transportation, Parking Fees, Entrance to Montecassino Abbey, Entrance to the Commonwealth Cemetery and Memorial of Cassino
Exclusions: Lunch
We wanted to visit the the battle sites and learn more about what happened here, particularly with respect to the involvement of the New Zealand troops. Anna picked us up at our accommodation and took us to a number of locations as she explained what actualy happened here and the surrounding area. We also visited the Commonwealth War Cemetery before going up to the Abbey. Anna is a local and is passionate about the war history of this area. She was friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant and she made the tour very enjoyable. Before leaving us where we asked to be dropped off in the town she gave us some recommendations of other things to do and restaurants to eat at. She is highly recommended.

Booking my tour with driverinrome for my Assisi trip was the best decision I made. They have the best customer service and very friendly drivers that can surely provide you with impressive information about the place. They ensure that you will have the best tour experience with their company. If I will have the chance to tour entire Italy, I would definitely have Driverinrome arrange it for me as they have tours available in different cities.

This tour is for "outside" the usual touristic areas. The Abbey of Montecassino is one of the most famous Abbeys in the world. In 529 Saint Benedict chose this mountain to build his monastery. In February the Abbey 1944 a bombardment almost flatted it. According to a legend, the temple of Jerusalem has been found to cause three deep cracks in the rock of today. On the top of this promontory stands the Sanctuary of the SS. Trinity. At the left side of the church, linked to other stories and relevant personalities, linked to other stories and relevant personalities. The sanctuary has been assumed to have been dedicated to Jupiter, although Venus has been another suggestion.

We wished we could see Pope Francis but we could never expected we could see him so closely thanks to Rossana great effort. Rossana and our driver Luigi are both great persons and the visit to the Pope very well organized. They both were professional, supportive, engaging and very helpful. Rossana took really a great effort to make the visit tailored to our needs and she had great sense of humour. Big thanks to R and L. We would highly recommend this tour.

Gilberto and Max of Discovery Tours provided the day trip of a lifetime to Anzio where I followed in my father's footsteps to see where he served his country in World War 2. Discovery Tours handled all the logistics, trip planning and detailed information on the battle sites and Anzio campaign with consummate professionalism. I learned much and thanks to Gilberto and Max, have a much deeper and personal understanding of the challenges my father and all other servicemen and women faced during this critical time in history. I enthusiastically recommend Discovery Tours to enrich your travel experience in the wonderful country of Italy.

Due to an injury we required a car service from our hotel in Naples to Rome Fiumicino Airport. Filippo Esposito was an excellent driver. He has a good command of English which is very helpful if you do not speak Italian. He pointed out some places of interest along the route but did not talk all the time and let us just enjoy the scenery. We would recommend Filippo to anyone looking for reliable transportation. He was also familiar with Rome airport and advised us on how to walk to the airport hotel.

If you have been to Rome before & have seen all the sights, this should be your next ‘excursion’. We had a private driver take us to Tivoli where we met our private guide...a Roman history schoolteacher who was filling in for a friend. She was sooo knowledgeable! It was HOT, but there was water along the way. The history of Hadrian (Adrian to the Italians) was mind-boggling!! Amazing how they could build what they did in only 20 years! The second part of the tour was nearby & much more lush & beautiful (see pics). Lunch was on our own. Tour guide had a few recommendations. Loved the one we chose (see my review). I liked that we had time for a leisurely lunch nearby before we met our driver for the trip back to our hotel.
