Lagos, sometimes referred to as Lagos State to distinguish it from Lagos Metropolitan Area, is a state located in the southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The smallest in area of Nigeria's 36 states, Lagos State is arguably the most economically important state of the country, containing Lagos, the nation's largest urban area. It is a major financial centre and would be the fifth largest economy in Africa, if it were a country.

The environment is stunning, however the accommodation was poor and extremely overpriced. Although we paid 50% deposit beforehand, our African hut was unavailable upon arrival. We were told it would be available the next day, but this did not happen. So we were given a villa, which although had an impressive view, meant we had to share accommodation with others instead of having our own place. The kitchen in the villa was literally falling apart and we had power sockets coming out of the wall. We had to strongly 'negotiate' a discount, which we were eventually given. We had no water for a day and a half and had to use buckets of water to wash and flush the toilets. All this at a cost which would rival a 5 star hotel. This coupled with the 7 hour extremely uncomfortable (and sometimes dangerous) road trip to get there ensured this is certainly not a place we will be recommending.

Janine put together an awesome 2-day tour of Lagos for us. From the planning process, to the airport pickup, to the execution of the tour, to the airport drop off, everything was on point. Janine took us into the heart of Lagos to experience life in the city. Our tour of the Makoko community was unforgettable, and our keke (three-wheel taxi) ride through the Balogun and Idumota markets on Lagos Island was unbelievable!! We indulged in a fantastic meal at a local restaurant, and enjoyed drinks on the beach in the evening. A special acknowledgement for our driver Timothy, who cooly negotiated legendary Lagos traffic with ease. Amazingly, he also walked backwards on the Lekki Canopy Walk to make some great video for us. Janine and Timothy always made us feel like we were traveling with family, safe and secure. She also has tours that cover Nigeria outside of Lagos, and we will utilize her services when we return. We highly recommend Janine Travel Guide!!

I'm originally from Ghana, but have not been there in a while. I booked my flight with Voyageback and it was a lot more affordable than with other booking companies. While in Ghana, I wanted to do some touristy things so I booked a few excursions with Voyageback and I must say that they were amazing! I visited Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, and discovered a lot about the slave trade. I also did a city tour in Accra and discovered more about my country of birth than I ever thought I could. I highly recommend taking your next trip with Voyageback.

I traveled in January 2020, just before COVID hit the world. I met Confidence in Ivory Coast and traveled through that country first. He arranged a driver to pickup my sister in Ghana and the four of us continued to travel through Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. Before I arrived I had to change my itinerary a couple of times and Confidence willingly made the changes I needed to add my sister coming, etc. I was reluctant to pay the entire amount of the tour when I arrived (I had sent over a deposit before I arrived), but we worked out a compromise for paying him as needed to cover costs. As an American I wasn't accustomed to paying 100% up front, so you may want to discuss the payment arrangements with Confidence so you feel comfortable with the needed payments. Evans, Confidence's brother and driver, was a great addition to our group as the roads are totally treacherous in West Africa, and you want to feel safe while you are over there driving to different places! Because I wanted to meet my sponsored child in Ghana while I was there, we had to drive on some very bad roads, and Evans did an excellent job of getting us there safely!! We had a car with Nigerian license plates to make it easier to cross into Nigeria. This smaller vehicle was OK for 4 people, but when we added a French speaking guide in Togo and Benin, it was quite crowded in the back seat with 3 adults. You may want to discuss upgrading to a larger vehicle depending on the number of people in your party. I am so happy to have been able to meet my sponsored child and see extraordinary West Africa! As a travel agent, I have traveled the world and this trip was one of the most memorable!! Confidence and Evans gave us so much insight into life in Africa and we had an awesome time! Also, Confidence's wife is an excellent seamstress and sells the most beautiful African dresses. I asked if she could make me a small dress for my granddaughter and she was able to do this in a couple of days, and I also purchased a few children's shirts out of their beautiful fabrics!

At the top of the Olumo Rock, you will be able to see the amazing blue skies, the vegetation and just revel in the beauty of nature. If you love nature, scenery with some peace and quiet, this is for you Olumo is actually derived from “Oluwalomo” meaning “God benevolently molded this rock for our refuge”. In the 19th Century, Olumo Rock served as a rock of offense and a fortress for the people of Egba Land where it housed the Egba warriors for 3 years. Enjoy the natural and panoramic view of the ancient city of Abeokuta from the top of Olumo rock. Explore the museum with interesting artifacts. At the base of the rock, there is an Art gallery that feautures some local artworks. At the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, there is also an inspirational and aspirational section of the museum where kids can put on the clothing of different professions and then take a picture of themselves.

The Kalakuta Museum is the last official residence of the Late Afrobeat Legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti popularly referred to as ''Baba70'' or Abami Eda(the weird one). Kalakuta Musuem holds the complete works, life and times of one of the greatest musician from Africa. Filled with historical photographs of events during the life of Fela and with his music at the background during the tour. This is a must see for every tourist to Lagos.
