Saint-Malo, originally built as a walled citadel guarding the mouth of the Rance river, was for centuries home to feared pirates. They’ve all gone to Davy Jones’ Locker, though, and now it’s Brittany’s most-visited city. Walk the bustling streets of the reconstructed old city and the vast beaches, making sure to stop at the Grande Porte, Porte St-Vincent, the town’s castle with its Musée de la Ville and the Grand Aquarium.

St Malo is an incredible and charming city, very good for a stroll around and there is the Corsaire House to visit, the Fortress around the city to walk around and a ship to explore.

Built in 1689 to protect the city.
when you arrive to this place, it's nice to walk around the fortreess. With views to the beach. It's also safe.

Happened upon this after lunch at Le Benetin (which i highly recommend!) - sculpted over 15 years by a deaf Abbott between 1898 and 1909, faces and creatures decorate the way down to the sea. Stunning views of the ocean. well worth the 2.50 euros to explore.
