Morning short walk in beautiful Bush towards waterfall. Walk up to peace seat, return, in places a little challenging for elderly but really enjoyed it. When it became a bit rough and steep we chose to turn back. But loved what we did.

Really amazing sights and walk, very relaxing walking along the tracks, great facilities and car park too which makes the visit easy. Never get tired of visiting here

We parked in the car park at the entrance to Hahei and caught the shuttle bus to the start of the walk. Fantastic views from Cathedral Cove viewing deck right at the start. The walk undulates up and down through some forest and open land to Cathedral Cove with lots of great views along the way. It brings you out on the beach where you can walk through Cathedral Rock to the next lovely sandy beach. Along the way are short detours to Stingray Beach and Gemstone Bay both worthwhile.

Visited the Karangahake Gorge with our 2 adult children and our 10yr old - although extremely busy (hard to get a car park) well worth the stop! If walking distances is a problem for you - you can drive right up to the waterfall Owharoa off state highway 2 onto Waitawheta Rd. Car park is just to the left after going over the bridge and the track to the waterfall is just up the road on the right (only 2min walk). You can swim in the waterfall but it can get overcrowded. And no pushchairs or mobility access. The cafe across the road from the main Karangahake Gorge car park The Talisman Cafe was also good, homemade bacon and egg pies with homemade chutney - very good and the coffee was also good.

The Hauraki Rail Trail is only 1.5 hours from Auckland and passes through Thames, Paeroa, Waihi and Te Aroha. The trail is a family friendly and is an easy grade one ride, suitable for all ages and abilities. A true sense of pioneering hospitality and mouth-watering food can be tasted along the way, fare to satisfy the most ardent explorer. The Trail also passes through the Karangahake gorge known as one of New Zealand's 14 wonders.
My wife and I had a great ride from Paeroa to Waihi and back - great scenery and an almost entirely flat track. The bikes and other equipment which we hired from Hauraki Bike Hire (101 Normanby Road, Paeroa) were excellent and Michael and his colleagues couldn’t have been nicer. While we got back just before they closed, we would have been able to have left them outside if we had returned after closing time, so there was no need to rush.

Been meaning fro a while to do this walk, and finally on New Years Day 2019 we did! It's a nice easy 30 minute walk in to the old dam built in 1922, easy track and some steps. It starts of a wide track in and slowly the bush gets better and thicker and you walk mostly by a small stream. It's a wonderful little walk and enjoyable
