Normandy (/ˈnɔːrməndi/; French: Normandie, pronounced [nɔʁmɑ̃di] ( listen), Norman: Normaundie, from Old French Normanz, plural of Normant, originally from the word for "northman" in several Scandinavian languages) is one of the 18 regions of France, roughly corresponding to the historical Duchy of Normandy.

Crossing the bay, walking barefoot on sand, water and mud, with an experienced guide, retracing the foot steps of the ancients pilgrims to Mont Saint-Michel. Along this walk you will discover a unique and ever changing landscape. Come to experienced an original way to reach Mont Saint-Michel. We suggest trips from 4 to 8 miles, for all the family, for adults and school groups...
I took the 3 hour walk around Mont Saint Michel along the mudflats and across rivers and it was a good way to further experience the beauty of the island abbey. The tour was in french but I understood much of what was being said. As the tour ended, the tide came rushing in and watching that was an awesome sight as well.

Although you can join this beautiful river path at several points following it's journey, I chose St Lo as a central starting point. Deciding to head towards the source of the river at the Gorges of La Vire along a well used wide compact shingle surface which is ideal for cyclists, walkers, horse riders or disabled wheelchairs, we passed some lovely villages and small towns on our journey. Having stopped at Conde sur Vire and had great fun on the Velorail along a disused railway track and then lunch at Tessy sur Vire before our destination in Pont Farcy. Heading towards the destination of the River the following day passing through Pont Hebert, St Fromond and finally Carentan where the path ends and La Vire will go on to reach the sea at it's journey's end. This path is amazing and allows you to have a true look at La Manche and it's secret places without any motorised vehicles. At over 60 kilometres in length on a well looked after path, this stunning Vire valley is a holiday in itself.
The avenue de vert is a magnificent 35 mile cycle path through the beautiful Normandy countryside, it is to be extended making a cycle link from London to Paris and I am amazed its not already on Trip advisor as it is estimated 80,000 people a year are using it.
