Did the full loop walk on this beautiful trail that offers stunning views of the Maine rockbound coast. It's an easy walk with a little change in elevation. Nicely groomed and not very heavy usage added to the enjoyment.

This is a sweet local trail just a hop off busy Route 1 in the Midcoast Maine region. The towns of Newcastle and Damariscotta, close by, are sweet small time shopping, dining and walking experiences in and of themselves. The Salt Bay Heritage Trail is a nice day hike and really a hidden "gem". It is well-marked almost all the way, but take after the tunnel, make sure you bear right.. The first half of the trail is a bit more challenging but the scenery is worth it..not hard at all.. The second half of the trail is easier going but not quite as pretty. I suggest you plan to be here for two hours. Enjoy the beautiful place and fresh air!

Nice long trail that has scenic views and is not too challenging. Follow the markings at the end to cross the landfill to the town lot

We day tripped her on a cloudy cool fall day with a little fog as well. We found the Giant Stairs trail, wen you round the bend (church on the left where there are a few spots to park) to the right, there was room for at least 15 cars on the street to park. The paths are right there that leads to the ocean ledge/view etc. Its a short one. Go and bring a snack/lunch and sit by the water. The path also goes in front of private homes but be respectful when and if you do go by them. Its a nice little stop to take in the view and the gorge where the "steps" are. There were people eating lunch on them so trying to get a photo without them was impossible but still took it. Great little stop while on Baileys Island.

This is a nice bike trail that can be picked up at the end of the Harbor Walk. The surface is crushed stone but is so well packed that I had no problem riding my road bike on the trail. At the end of the trail you can make a right onto City Point Rd and keeping the Passagassawakeag River on your right you can loop back to the pedestrian bridge and the Harbor Walk in downtown Belfast.
