Caher Valley Loop

Reviewed By earth81_13 - Galway, Ireland

A lovely walk to get away from it all. Met very few people on this loop. Started off by going left out of Fanore beach car park, & took right turns there after until coming back to the carpark. Start off with road surface & then the climb starts on the grassy surface. & it is a climb, & just when you think you have reached the top, you go around the corner, & there is another little hill. But once you reach the top of that hill, it is downhill all the way home. Lovely views once you get back on the road surface heading back to the carpark. Took 3 hours, with about a 20 min stop for a picnic lunch.

Clare Coastal Walk Project

Spectacular views on this walk. Truly amazing and well-worth taking a few hours out of your day to go on it. It is not too difficult but good walking runners or boots are definitely a must. There are quite a lot of boggy areas (even in dry weather) to cross over. This is definitely a must if in Doolin or nearby.

Lough Avalla Farm Looped Walk

This is by far and away my favourite walk. It's quite rugged, but it's just so different all along the way. Walking along beautiful tree-lined paths, through the forest, walking from one Burren stone to the next, a bit of climbing, a lake, 2 cairn burial mounds and a holy well! And then tea and cake with Harry the owner at the end. Can really highly recommend it. The rocks can be slipping if it's raining. Great for families but not for very young kids.

In July 1971 my girlfriend and I dived into the swimming pool. We had no idea it was linked with the ocean. When we told locals, they were appalled. Inishmor 1971 was before electricity and cars. Ferry out of Galway once a week. Today’s visitors have no idea what a wonderful place it was. Tripadvisor seems not to like trips down memory lane. Hence July 2020!
