Family winery since over four years is between sea and mountains in the town of Banyuls-sur-mer, that our 15 hectares of vines cling to the steep slopes. Terracing is a true architectural work across the mountains. Any mechanization is difficult, the work is mainly manual.

We are a small, fully-operational vineyard in the south of France practicing organic growing, cultivation, harvesting and production methods. Our winemaker, Serge Baux, is a man of passion whose philosophy is rooted in a respect for nature. Only a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean, mid-way between Perpignan and Canet along the ancient Roman VIA DOMITIA (containing the oldest vineyards of the Mediterranean countries), the Baux estate is spread out over 20 hectares, 12 of which are planted with vines in full production. A completely restored 18th century Catalan Mas houses the vinification, aging and bottling processes. We are also lucky to have a unique terroir, found in very few other places in the world, covered in naturally-formed round stones sitting on a clay bedrock, and we boast strictly manual green harvests with highly-selective hand-sorting of our grapes, producing exceptionally high-quality wines.
We visited spontaneously in the morning. All the team were so welcoming and friendly with a very informative tour and wonderful tasting of all their amazing wines.

Walk to the highest point of the alberes massif. It is at 1256m and marks the frontier between france and sapin. On the top you will have a superb view over the plain of roussillon, bordered by the mediterranean, the pyrenees and the spanish plain of ampurdan.
The highest mountain in the Albers is well worth the trip you can get to it by a car from Le Perthus by road almost to the top alternatively you can cycle up on a road bike by the same way. Another option is to leave from Laroque des Alberes and in about three or 3 1/2 hours you can get there on foot with the possibility of stopping off for meal at 1000 m in a lovely Chalet the views are stupendous right the Ampurdan plain on your left the Roussillon with the sea ahead and Canigou behind you. Don’t miss the “Puig “de neige an intact ice making pit made from stone it’s just on the Spanish side as you approach the last 200 m of your 1200 m climb.

Fort Liberia is one of the Vauban Fortress located in the upper part of Villefranche-de-Conflent, in Conflent Region, in the South of France. It was built after Pyrenees Treaty (17th Century). Nowadays you can visit this fortress. In fact, you go up with a 4*4 (or by walk) and you can go down by 4*4 again or go down the stairs. My 4 years old daughter and I tried this last option and it was very funny. In the fortress, you can go up to the ramparts and see wonderful views of the town and mountains. Great! also, it is possible learn about the life in this place during the last centuries. Very interesting. On an eagle's nest in the heart of the Massif du Canigou, the former Benedictine Abbey of St. Martin's discretely overhangs the valley since the XI century. A unique site just waiting to be discovered by the delighted rambler, with ist bell tower, marble capitals, the vaulted abbey-church and crypt... A jewel of early Romanesque architecture typical of this region.
The walk up to this Abbey, perched on the top of a mountain, is fantastic (about 40 mins, bring walking shoes). The kids (aged 4 and 6) enjoyed it too. The Abbey is a great reward at the end, the guided tour (in French) is very well done and interesting (even for young children), and there are views of the mountains from all around the Abbey.

It's a short walk, but it's a stunning place. It's worth the visit. A hidden jewel in the south of France.
