In Canada's wine country, Niagara-on-the-Lake presents a well-preserved 19th-century village and its charms. Drive or bike through the area, stopping at wineries and Fort George National Historic Site. Ride along the Niagara Escarpment on horseback or book a white-water adventure at nearby Niagara Falls (you might have heard of them).

The Wine Country Cooking school offered a delightful evening of cooking with paired wine tastings. Strewn winery owners Jane and Joe are hands on and were very involved in the evening which made it delightful and very informative. They are very attuned to their customers, even consulting with us on menu items before the event itself. Despite having done many cooking classes and wine tastings in the past, we definitely learned some new things. Their chef instructor Brenda has a wealth of knowledge and tips even for old dogs like us. It was a quiet evening for them as we were the only clients in the cooking school that night and yet they didn't cancel and gave us their undivided and enthusiastic attention. Gaging our interest in wine we took advantage of an offer for a full tasting session the next day as well and have joined their wine club.

On the recommendation of the sommelier at Treadwell restaurant we tried the wine from Five Rows and loved it. We made arrangements to visit the next day, even though they were usually closed. They were so accommodating and lovely and we really enjoyed the wine. We bought a case and are excited to have it at home. One of our favourite wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

We love visiting Niagara for the wineries & the fantastic places to dine. It was our first visit to Caroline but there will be certainly be many more! Lunch was amazing! My husband raved about his grilled cheese with bacon & we both enjoyed the delicious homemade fries. I had the ancho shrimp salad bowl. O.M.G. That was the best salad I have ever had! And I eat salads every day for lunch. The shrimp was so flavourful & perfectly cooked. It paired well with the aioli. The salad was dressed in a tasty vinagrette with quinoa to make it more filling. It was AMAZING! And I have to have it again. I can't wait! The winery was bustling with tour groups, so we had to wait a few minutes for a place at the bar. The tasting flight was complimentary, which is rare these days! We especially enjoyed the riesling & pinot grigio, which were both reasonably priced & delicious! I look forward to enjoying them again at home. We will be back on our next trip to Niagara! And you should go too.
