Hesse (/ˈhɛsə/) or Hessia (German: Hessen [ˈhɛsn̩], Hessian dialect: Hesse [ˈhɛzə]) is a federal state (Land) of the Federal Republic of Germany, with just over six million inhabitants. The state capital is Wiesbaden; the largest city is Frankfurt am Main. Until the unification of Germany, the territory of Hesse was occupied by the Grand Duchy of Hesse, the Duchy of Nassau, the free city of Frankfurt and the Electorate of Hesse, known also as Hesse-Cassel. Due to divisions after World War II, the modern federal state does not cover the entire cultural region of Hesse, which includes both the State of Hesse and the area known as Rhenish Hesse (Rheinhessen) in the neighbouring state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Money Museum is an interactive place for exploring the world of money. How is cash produced? What is book money? How does monetary policy work and what exactly does a central bank do? What role does money play in a globalised world? Striking exhibits, attractive staging and more than 80 media stations with games and interactive information provide answers to these and many more money-related questions. The topics are approached from both a current and a historical perspective. The exhibition is both in German and English.

The visitor Centre was beautiful, they served tea, and there is a bookshop and common exhibition room. The temple itself is beautiful and so serene.

Beautiful castle and surroundings that can be visited at a very fair entry price of 4€. There are not only numerous buildings to visit from the inside, but there is also an exhibition of various artefacts to be visited, and you can also climb one of the towers. At the entrance you obtain a little leaflet with information, that was great during our visit. Highly recommend!

I was recommended this museum by a friend and I am so grateful for that! The place is inspiring to say the least. Very well maintained and you get a real glimpse of the development of chemistry and science during the 1840s. All the works of Justus Liebig is clearly explained including the Liebig barrel and the condensors of course. It is really to be appreciated that the way the explanations are displayed, for any person with some background in science, the whole picture unfolds in front of you! Not to miss the awesome feeling that persons like Erlenmeyer and Kekule and others have used the lab and the classroom here during their life time! There are explanations in each of the rooms in English as well and so unlike some of the other museums, it's a pleasure to visit this place for non German speakers as well.
