It's great to have such a huge and fantastic hiking area just outside the city center with good public transportation. Unfortunately, I had to live here for 18 years before I found out, thanks to closed activities due to Covid-19.

This is a free entry museum located close to the Askerhus Castle. When we entered on the ground floor we thought that it was a small museum detailing the various campaigns in which the Norwegian armed forces participated. Then we walked up to the first floor. There unfolded a vast, detailed exhibition of all the conflicts that Norway was involved in - starting from the Vikings, through the numerous wars with Sweden right up to the Second World war and beyond. Each section of the exhibition displays numerous artifacts and information.

The Norwegian Public Road Museum, is one of Norway's largest technical and industrial museum facilities. The museum consists of three museums and a large open air museum. The three museums are; the Norwegian Public Road Museum (NPRM), the Norwegian Rock Blasting Museum(NRBM) and the Norwegian Vehicle Museum (NVM). The museums have a total of almost 5,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor exhibitions. In the open air museum, you will find a number of buildings that have had an impact on daily life along the roads. Such as ; country stores, petrol station and road warden's residence. There are also exhibited machines that have been used for road construction and rock blasting.

Thoroughly curated museum with both Norwegian and English information boards. Because of covid-19, the touch boards were not in use when we visited, but this is totally understandable. The mine museum was located inside a mine, which we really liked. There are benches and toilets placed around the park, and a nice café too. We recommend bringing a rain jacket in case of rain, because there will be walking from building to building.

You can get there by car, but if you walk up the hill, starting from the harbour, you will enjoy it even more. I loved it all: the catacombs with candle lights, the guides in costumes, the light- and film-show at midnight, the amazing views. I'll be back!

Sognsvann Lake is a one of the most easily accessible lakes in all of Oslo, It is right at the end of Line 5 and one can easily walk around the lake, have a picnic, or just grab an ice cream on a nice summers day.

We took the Ibsen from Ulefoss to Skien, and we immensely enjoyed ourselves. Our boat had a group of Norwegian pensioners enjoying themselves, which made me realize that this is what the locals do. The boat is beautiful as is the scenery. There are drinks and pastries for purchase on board, and the staff is friendly and informative. A visit to the Telemark region is a must for someone seeing Norway.

I brought my senior leaders to this excellent museum in Horten, for a two hours guided tour in maritime history. The guide service was excellent! Eventhough I have served a lot of years in the Navy, there are always something new to learn. We finished the tour on board the submarine (Ex HNoMS Utstein). This is a place you must visit!
