A fascinating insight into this unique and iconic Australian industry and explore the wonder and magnificence of nature.
Did the self-guided tour for $5 which included an informative video about opals in Australia. Lots of beautiful stones to see and some available to buy. Made me appreciate opals and their history more

A wonderful Place to visit. Set amonst beautfully set out gardens: We had a guided tour and a most informative talk from a Buddhist nun who explained with charm and a quiet sense of humour her religion and the meanings of the statues and other things in the temple: A truly fantastic day which left us with a wonderful feeling of peace and calm.

After this experience, you will every time. Death Row: Officer Sparks isn’t playing fair, and has powered up the electric chair. Birrunga Gallery & Dining is an Indigenous art gallery, cafe, and bar which offers visitors multi-sensational experiences with authentic First Nations culture in the heart of Brisbane - through art, music, dance, artefacts, food, tours, & classes. Our original art is a curated and eclectic collection of various local and regional Indigenous practising artists who define their histories and stories through visual commentary. Original art, prints, textiles, and artisan hand-crafted weapons, didgeridoos, boomerangs, clapsticks, bull-roarers, baskets, and coolamons for sale. Or create your own in one of our guided traditional carving or weaving workshops. Appreciate the art through our series of gallery owner guided art tours, or learn a new appreciation through social sip and paint classes, or Aboriginal ancestry art classes. Lastly, if you're thirsty or hungry pause for a moment in our ambient in-house cafe, with a bush tucker/native ingredient menu - featuring kangaroo, emu, and croc.
This place is very nice, tucked away downstairs. Food is excellent, the ambience is lovely and the First Nations artist has adorned the walls with fantastic artwork. The chef came out and ensured his creations were being enjoyed. I had the kangaroo sliders, these were very enjoyable.

Popular for its long stretches of pristine beach and clear lagoons, this island features the highest dune in the world, reaching 280 meters above sea level.
Snorkel the ship wrecks, tobaggan the sand dunes, feed the dolphins at sunset, swim in the Blue Lagoon, drive along the beaches in your 4 wheel drive vehicle, go fishing.

Considered Queensland's first historic national park, this island features the ruins of a colonial prison, once known as the "hell hole of the South Pacific."
What an interesting tour! The island is just a short boat trip away from Brisbane and offers a lot of surprises. The wildlife is stunning on the island. Thousands of wild wallabies and a lot of butterflies. It was really interesting to dive into the past and learn about the prison and the people that used to live on the island. A fantastic day spent with friends. Highly recommended!

Scenic park located right in the middle of the city features colorful subtropical gardens and Celebration Lawn, a green oasis for picnicking, flying kites or just relaxing.
I am embarrassed! Despite numerous visits to Brisbane over the years- mainly, admittedly, on work - I had failed to visit this wonderful area, and just within walking distance of the city centre. The numerous paths lead through a very diverse garden - views, fountains, ponds, sculptures, trees, shrubs, lawns and beautiful flower beds. A must for any visit I do in future.
