We have visited Plakias at least ten times and eaten at Medousa on a number of occasions although itâs been a few years since we last ate there. The decor is as we remember it and the menu seemed interesting so we were looking forward to a wonderful meal in a great setting. The food was very good. My husband and I shared a Shrimp Saganaki starter followed by Sea Bream (served with fried potatoes and okra) and Mamaâs Special (pork loin in creamy shallot and mushroom sauce with rice). We also had two Ouzoâs and a bottle of water. The bill came to Euros 46.50 which included a bread cost. They served complimentary semolina squares and raki afterwards. Whilst the food was all tasty and fresh, for what we were paying, we felt the portions were very disappointing. If we had not filled up on bread we would have left an expensive restaurant very hungry. A real shame. With the pork dish my husband asked for rice and got no more than 1 tablespoon on the plate. With the fish we got 3 (or 4?) small filleted pieces of fish on a small amount of okra and potatoes. It definitely was a case of the more you pay the less you get. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived but the service could have been better. No drink orders were taken and we had to call someone over to order. The option of rice or potatoes as per menu was not discussed at ordering and that was an afterthought as well.All in all the setting and decor was great, the food was great but portions stingy and service could have been better. I am rating two stars less for portion versus value for money and because we are put off going again whilst we are here for a few more weeks. Salut! We stopped here after visiting Preveli Beach, it was perfectly shaded by the trees. The food was delicious and there was a park for the kids to play on.There were a few cats but they didnât bother us, and the staff were very helpful.The surrounding area with the old bridge and pond nearby were a lovely feature of the restaurant. Highly recommend for both food and drinks.

Amazing views to the bay and near-by hills. Went there twice: once for dessert andanother time for late lunch. Filled vine leaves and zucchini flowers were great, chicken souvlari rather basic (though chicken as such was soft and tasty), and the so-called Cretan salad was experimental wiht many non-typical ingradients. Been here few times over the years, and the quality has remained high. Servic a bit slow. Anyway, worth to visit.

A truly outstanding meal, local Cretan cooking at is best, Notting microwaved here just great food cooked with the upmost love. We had Beef Stifado, Rabbit in Tomato Sauce, Grilled fish and stuffed vegetables this was washed down with a great in-pretentious local white and the best homemade red (like a good sherry) that 3⬠can buy. Itâs a must, got to be tried, simply have to go, donât try the rest go to the best (itâs taken me a week to find it).

I have been visiting relatives in Crete for decades and this is one of our favorite restaurants on the island. The setting is beautiful with panoramic views over the southern coast; the food is fresh, interesting and prepared with care; the wine list features some outstanding Cretan reds; and the service is friendly. Full of Greeks rather than just tourists.

Boyfriend and I went here and thought they food was great - especially stuffed zucchini flowers - they show you the specials in the kitchen. Wine less good than the other local restaurant we had been to tho and service was a bit slow at times. But the staff were always friendly and charming so it didnât really matter. a very nice place with good views and great value. Would recommend

Local traditional dishes seemed to be fewer than in the past, focusing more heavily on meat options and less on vegetable recipes. I was also saddened that they no longer offer local Cretan beers, just a mainstream (and non-Greek) label. Still, our dishes were tasty and of high quality.

Once again we visited Merastri. We love the place and the view, we love the food! Stuffed mushrooms, siglina (the best) eggplants saganaki, pork with beans, rabbit with yogurt, fresh salads. Whatever is you choice. Is the right choice!

From the moment we entered the ambiance and the friendliness was extremely welcoming. The food was lick your plate clean tasty. All of the ingredients are super fresh and you taste it in every bite. They take ordinary foods and elevate it to extraordinary.They also went out of the way to suit my wife who does not eat meat.
