This excellent course, with some long par 4s, has hosted the Portuguese Open several times and features the par 3, 15th hole with nothing between the tee and green but water.
Loved staying here great resort. Beautiful surroundings. Young family can use pool and Creche facilities and mom and dads get to relax at the spa.

Over-looking the bay of Machico lies the Santo da Serra Golf Club. Its original course, built in 1937, was redesigned in 1991 by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones who created a spectacular 27 hole golf course in one of the most beautiful landscapes that nature may offer. The MACHICO and the DESERTAS courses are the ones usually played on the Madeira Island Open, while the SERRAS course, though slightly plain, maintains the same game level.
Although we don't golf, we decided to stop in to check out the club house and wow, how could you not love this place? The decor is so inviting and the staff so welcoming we decided to have dinner here. The scabbard fish meal with passion fruit and banana was superb and so beautifully presented. Compliments to the chef! Prices are very reasonable so don't hesitate to stop in.

No.Holes: 18 PAR: 73 Length: 6254 m Slope Rating: 138 Architect: Frank Pennink Location: Vilamoura, Algarve In the heart of Vilamoura lies the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, The Old Course Golf Club. As one of the first-established layouts in the region, the Frank Pennink-design is well regarded throughout the golfing world. Although it is but a mere 20-minute drive from Faro Airport, the course finds itself situated amongst impressive pine trees and set out over gently undulating terrain. There can be no argument that, for all who are lucky enough to play here, this is a golf course that lives long in the memory.
Played in October as a group of 8. Course was incredibly quiet due to covid so pretty much had the course to ourselves. It’s a stunning track lined with pine trees and the elevations make for some amazing views, particularly against a backdrop of clear blue skies. Course was generally in good conditions although a few fairways had been sanded. Buggies had to be kept on cart paths so the round took almost 5 hours as you may have to walk across the other side of the fairways with a variety of clubs if out of position. This did not cause a problem to our group due to how quiet the course was, but can imagine this could be more of an issue in busier times. A fairer test for the average golfer than the brutal Victoria Course and a most enjoyable day.

Praia D'El Rey is arguably one of the most stunning golf courses in Europe. It's set among extensive pine forests and undulating dunes, with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlengas Islands beyond. The 18-hole golf course was designed by the renowned American golf architect Cabell B.Robinson and was inaugurated on 14th June 1997. Deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golfing challenge.Praia D'El Rey is rated amongst the top golf courses in Europe by Golf World Magazine and is one of Portugal's major golfing destinations for both private and sponsored events. The course is a mixture of seaside links and parkland holes with a par of 73, offering the golfer a unique experience. Players are required to have a valid golf handicap certificate. Minimum handicap requirements are men 36, ladies 36.Enjoy your game!

The 18 hole championship golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros has magnificent golf and Atlantic ocean views, a clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant, bar, members' lounge and a large terrace with incredible views over the golf course and the ocean.
A brilliant golf course and just excellent service from the folks in the clubhouse. Great food at reasonable prices made so much better by the manager and waitresses. 5 stars.
