Top 10 Golf Courses in New Zealand, New Zealand

New Zealand (/njuːˈziːlənd/ ( listen); Māori: Aotearoa [aɔˈtɛaɾɔa]) is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses—the North Island (Te Ika-a-Māui), and the South Island (Te Waipounamu)—and around 600 smaller islands. New Zealand is situated some 1,500 kilometres (900 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. Because of its remoteness, it was one of the last lands to be settled by humans. During its long period of isolation, New Zealand developed a distinct biodiversity of animal, fungal and plant life. The country's varied topography and its sharp mountain peaks, such as the Southern Alps, owe much to the tectonic uplift of land and volcanic eruptions. New Zealand's capital city is Wellington, while its most populous city is Auckland.

This course is very picturesque with its abundance of beautiful mature trees. We played on a Saturday morning so it was busy and we had a lot of waiting because we were only a two with a cart. This is the 3rd time we have played this course and we have enjoyed it each time. There are a lot of sloping greens

Golfers - a must to play. Course superb and tees, fairways and greens are in the best condition . The bunkers too but we avoided them. This is one of the best in NZ and also being a true Sanctuary is superb. Staff excellent and very helpful and the 19th worth a visit with good food and choices of beverages. Course is an excellent layout with many many challenges but if you do plot your way around you can get the most out of the course. Happy anytime to return.

Gulf Harbour Country Club

Gulf Harbour Country Club enjoys a reputation as one of the premier golf clubs in New Zealand, with an outstanding championship course. Located on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, less than an hour’s drive from Auckland’s CBD, it is home to an 18-hole gem designed by the famous course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. Despite its relatively tender years, the layout of the course has twice played host to the New Zealand Open. Come and enjoy the thrill of playing the spectacular cliff-top course with some fantastic vistas of the Auckland area. The back nine, the 12th hole provides fantastic views looking back towards Auckland city with views all down the North Shore. We have extensive practice facilities allowing golfers to loosen off before playing with a Putting and Chipping Greens, Pitching Green and a 250-metre Driving Range. The clubhouse experience is equally rewarding: the club has a warm, friendly atmosphere ensuring visitors will feel instantly at home.

How many times am I going to golf in New Zealand with my son? This may have been my one chance, so I went for the best place I could find. Add rental clubs to the greens fees for a Friday morning round, and it came in just under $400 us (yikes, but okay). I think kiwis get a much better rate, especially if they are affiliated with club. We LOVED it! We took the ferry from the Auckland viaduct, and the course arranged for our ride to the course. What a cool way to get to the course! The views were insane, and we never had to wait to hit our shots, even though we were a twosome. The rough is crazy. If you hit one wide, don't even bother. Even if you see exactly where it went in, chances are less than 50/50 that you'll find it. Don't worry, though, it's not so hard that you won't have fun. It's great.

Got to play Kauri Cliffs through Perry golf tour. Wonderful experience. Staff very friendly. Food very very good. Excellent driving range with spectacular views. Course had great views. Course had a great design. Greens were in great shape. Between this course and Cape Kidnappers these courses had better views and were of better design than Pebble beach. If had a choice to play these or Pebble and Spyglass I would travel to New Zealand. Hope I can go again.

Picked this out of the Golf digest 50 best GC in NZ. We went over to see my daughter and this time I had to take my clubs. We contacted the Pro who said a tournament was on over the entire weekend but got me on on Sundy morning. We started on the 10th a short par 4 nice and easy - perfect fairway - perfect greens and a early tribute to the absolute Links course this is. Some of the holes were so beautiful that you forgot how hard they really were. I found the guys in the Pro shop happy to help. I did not get a chance to pop into the club because we went to NZ to see my daughter and I took the morning off...But it was absolutely worthwhile. Make sure you play this course

Cape Kidnappers Golf Course

We have been waiting a year to play Cape Kidnappers; we were not disappointed. Having booked we followed this app and were a little concerned on some of the reviews however; it was amazing from the opening of the gates to the journey home. We were made very welcome on arrival and everything was explained to us. Practice area very good; as was the pre drinks and light snack. The course was amazing in condition, set up and challenges - greens very good, you should practice before you go out. Oh, and take a camera - the views are amazing. On returning to the Clubhouse the showers, shop and after drinks were very good even though we were the last in; also important is the value for money in the shop; sometimes not always the case. Is it worth the green fees; it’s not always about the golf - service and quality are also very important, I have played other courses but the overall experience was amazing. If you are golfer; Yes the course is very good. If you are about experiencing playing the 22nd best golf course in the world and have the time to enjoy the overall experience; Definitely Yes.. Can’t wait to play it again...

Rangatira Golf Club

Come and play golf at this unique 18 hole course situated in the heart of the Rangitikei. What gives Rangatira that uniqueness; the course is built on three levels, stunning views of the Rangitikei River, and a ride in the Electric Cable Car, the only one of its kind in New Zealand. Situated on St Highway One 12km North of Hunterville Rangatira is arguably one of the best golf courses in the lower North Island as featured on Sky TVs “The Golf Club” November 2009. There are no bunkers .

Reviewed By ActionHero47 - Paraparaumu, New Zealand

My first trip back to Rangatira GC since 2013 when I achieved my first ever hole in one at the short (but very difficult) #8 hole at the north end of the course. A very friendly clubhouse where members made us very welcome, the beers cheap and cold, views from the clubhouse over the course are breathtaking. The course itself is an above-average country track, everything maintained by volunteer members. The 6 holes down the bottom level are very peaceful and quiet then the ride to the top in the cable car is a highlight of the round. I will be back again.
