Tribal Textiles is a conscious business based in South Luangwa, Zambia that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary composition to create one-of-a-kind, ethical home decor handcrafted by artisans employed within the local community. We go beyond fair wages, reinvesting 5% of each purchase in community strengthening initiatives, and supporting local wildlife conservation. Pop in to visit our workshop during your stay in South Luangwa! You will experience the Tribal Textiles production process and see our talented team performing their skilled work (you can even book to paint your own masterpiece alongside our artisans). You will be able to purchase truly unique souvenirs from your trip to Zambia (textiles, weaving, wood, jewellery, stationery...). Or simply come to enjoy a tasty meal or a refreshing drink in our shady courtyard.
We were so impressed with artists and their work. We watched them creating beautiful images on fabric, then visited the several shops. They keep a good selection on hand of pieces here. You can find some things at Mfuwe Lodge and local airport also. Strongly advise you to stop and look. You will not be disappointed.

We hand craft exceptional jewellery & accessories inspired by the African bush whilst investing in conservation & the unique South Luangwa, Zambia. Our most celebrated range turns snare wire, found during essential anti snare patrols carried out to conserve our iconic wildlife, into jewellery & gives donations back to fund more patrols with every piece of jewellery sold.
Mulberry Mongoose is a lovely jewellery shop making unique and beautiful pieces. The women who work there are friendly and knowledgeable and make you feel very welcome to look around. My favourite collection was their snare wire collection, in which all of the pieces have been made from snare wires found in poaching traps in the local environment and 5% of the profits are donated to anti-poaching groups. I bought a bracelet from this collection that will always remind me of my time in South Luangwa and I'm tempted to buy more from their website. Although much pricier than other souvenirs, it's worth every penny. If you are doing a safari in this area, don't miss out on a trip to Mulberry Mongoose

A truly authentic and wonderful experience. A market focused on the locals in the area but open to wonderful finds if you have time to explore. Very safe (I went alone), and everyone was incredibly helpful in making sure I got what I was looking for. The market is divided by “themes”, so you will find similar products grouped together - second hand clothing, shoes, fresh vegetables, fabrics, dried fish etc. The prices are so low it’s not worth bartering, but I am sure you could do it. Delicious fried rotis for 3 kwatcha ($0,30). Take water with as it gets pretty hot. Great fresh fruit too.
