I just love a great little local art store and this was IT! I even went out to the car and made my boyfriend come in and look around too! I bought a hat and painting and I love them both. The owner was friendly, very helpful and even helped by suggesting a nearby canyon to explore that was not on my list. These are the kind of stores that I look for on Trip Advisor and that is why I like to leave my reviews. Don`t forget to sanitize your hands and stop in for a look. There is something for everyone!

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The road was being worked on and the staff were very helpful. Once they showed us where to go we got to play in the piles of rock. There was a lot of pieces of amethyst and the ground just glittered. We got loads of amethyst for a really low price. The pieces for sale are Hugh quality and reasonably priced

Welcome to Amethyst Mine Panorama! Amethyst Mine Panorama is located just 60KM East of Thunder Bay Ontario, on the beautiful Lake Superior Circle Route. Open 7 days a week, holidays included, from May 15 to October 15. This active working amethyst mine welcomes visitors on a seasonal basis. Visit our Welcome Centre, learn the history and geology of Thunder Bay Amethyst and dig your own amethyst in our spacious digging area. Handmade amethyst jewellery and souvenirs are available in the Welcome Centre. This is an all ages activity. Walking & self-guided tours are available. Reservations are not required.
We specifically came up to Thunder Bay, Ontario for the Amethyst Mine Panorama. It is a working amethyst mine and with admission, they will take you on a short tour that explains how the mine came to be and the history of it. You then get a pail and digging instrument and off you go to collect amethyst rocks. The area is separate from the mining area so it is safe, even for little ones. There is amethyst of various sizes laying all over the ground, you don’t even have to dig for it (but you can dig if you want????). You find the stones and rocks that you like, put them in the pail and when you’re done, you wash and scrub them with a brush. You decide which ones you want to keep, place them in a bag that’s provided and go back to the office. They weigh them for you and charge by the pound. It is so reasonable and that is part of what makes it so fun! They have heavier pieces already lined up for sale if you don’t want to go out into the field. There is also polished stones and jewelry. It is just north of Thunder Bay in the town of Shuniah, Ontario. It is off the highway, just follow the signs. WELL WORTH IT!

If you love fresh smoked fish - multiple kinds are available - this is the place to go! My sister and I stopped in yesterday and I had fish and fishing on my mind... I chose some plain smoked salmon nuggets— so moist and absolutely delicious - and some red fin trout (see picture!) Half of the trout. —which looked very meaty to the eye —will make about three hearty meals. This is what remained after 1 serving. I had to remove the skin and bones to get this. Besides the fish there are also other yummy treats like fresh home made carrot cake, bread and the famous anise flavoured Finnish sweet loaf. It looks like a big braid. You won’t be disappointed and of course in the main section of the store there was lots of beautiful amethyst jewellery and other creations.
