Just phenomenal...... The canals of Amsterdam are just divine and SO are their cookies!!! Forget stroopwafels, if that’s what you think you must indulge in when in Holland.... these cookies from Van Stapele are the winners! We queued for around 20 mins - possibly the most rewarding queuing experience ever!! And the best value €2 ever spent. Yes, somehow we resisted and stuck to a single cookie each, neglecting the ability to purchase a magic 7 permitted cookies per person. I think if I lived in Amsterdam I’d binge on the full 7 per day if the queue didn’t stand in my way :) A fantastic business model. And also a genuinely friendly and impressive counter experience (congratulations!) from a woman who must get so sick of the monotony of selling the same product over and over to hoards of tourists, yet doesn’t show it. She must be intoxicated by those decadent warm cookie smells wafting around.....

The worlds first Cigaragua store with the finest selection of Nicaraguan cigars. Nicaragua has the best soil for tobacco in the world, nutritious volcanic soil, the best tobacco farmers in the world and a highly skilled work force. It's no wonder that even the big Dominican brands are venturing into Nicaragua. Nicaragua produces the best cigars in the world, period.
Wow! Where do I begin? Decided to visit Cigaragua in Amsterdam purely based on ALL the raving reviews on how good this place is. Had to go experience it myself. The minute I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly welcoming face, Onno. This man knows his products (Cigars) inside out. We had a grand tour of their huge walk-in humidor and he personally talked me through each of my sections. (yes i did purchase alot!) We then got an invite to their lounge (located below the walk-in humidor). My Padron was cut and lit to my preference and paired with a beautiful 12 year Flo De Cana. Several hours later, regrettably the wife & I had to leave as it was past their closing time. If you are looking for a informative, relaxed, reputably cigar shop with great staff (cannot commend Onno enough) with stunning décor and ambience to match… Cigaragua is your place of choice. Its not just a cigar shop...its an experience! Thank you Onno & Cigaragua! Hopefully see you later the year for the annual Big Smoke

Hagelswag, share the Dutch tradition of Real chocolate. Using only the finest fair trade ingredients makes Hagelswag the perfect way to add some swag to your bread, pancakes or granola. Although we wouldn’t blame anyone who eats it straight from the bottle… A Dutch gift for yourself or someone else.

Tantilly is a very colorfull shop, you can't stop looking, there are so many beautiful things. Dresses, skirts, blouses, scarfs....they all have super colors. It's like a candyshop, little gifts, nice jewelry and bags...there is so much, and it's all fair trade. And the women are so helpful and nice. Tantilly is a happy experience.... Love...Angelique

VAN KLEEF DISTILLERY A wonderful place to visit is the distillery Van Kleef, The Hague, where a have-a-drink happens in quality spheres. All has been coolest restored to the original gin and liqueur house of yesteryear. Visit on your own or when reserved with a group (small or large) it is so fun! The staff and the bar lady will tell you about the circumstances and the history of the distillerey all in style. Included the museum. Always a great time here!

Prepare your visit: Go to the Google Play Store/Apple Store and download the IZI.TRAVEL app. Open the izi.TRAVEL app en click on the compass button on the lower left side of your screen. Type in 'Aalsmeer' via the search bar and open the Royal FloraHolland audiotour. Have fun! Our location at Aalsmeer is the largest trading centre for plants and flowers in the world. And it's just a stone's throw from Schiphol airport. The earlier you get here, the more you see. From the Visitor Centre, walk across a gallery through the auction complex. At the end of the gallery, you'll arrive at the auction halls where you'll see the flowers come before the auction clock. As you walk around, you'll find information panels which explain - in four languages - the auction process and the activities you'll be watching. There's no need to sign up for this tour in advance. You can also explore the auction with a professional guide. Reservation on the website, extra charge.
Only an ant hill could challenge the Royal FloraHolland for logistics and when you see the large number of electric delivery vehicles scurrying around the 220 football fields of warehouse storage, a frenetic anthill immediately comes to mind. “Rarely have an accident!” the receptionist told me. “There are road rules like those applying to bicycles in the Netherlands!” she said. Sure! The statistics, like the logistics, are mind blowing. 30,000 different plants (and they all seemed to be perfect), 30 million plants sold per day, €8.8M of sales per day and 10 football fields of cold storage with flowers and plants delivered all around the World, within 24 hours to Europe and 48 hours elsewhere. All of this, including the extensive auction room, can be observed from the elevate walkway. So here is my challenge to you. You have 6,000 suppliers and 2,500 customers around the World plus the other statistics quoted above. How are you going to organise all of this? Walk around, study the shop floor movements and see if you can work out how it all works. At €8 entrance fee, the largest floor market in the World is well worth a visit. RECOMMENDED.
