If you like Art Deco architecture, you must visit Napier. The town was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1931, then completely rebuilt in gorgeous Art Deco style. A number of local wineries also offer tours and tastings.

My tour of Hawkes Bay stopped at this chocolate factory and shop. You can watch them making delicious treats as you hear their story. The shop has all kinds of treats including high heels made of chocolate. There is another shop with New Zealand treats of all kinds. A nice stop.

My wife and I visited Opossum World in 2015 while vacationing in New Zealand and purchased a couple of possum pillows. Unfortunately, this spring our puppy got a hold of one of them and used it as a chew toy. I Emailed Opossum world and inquired if they had any replacements and was responded to within 24 hours by Lynette, who was very helpful. I got the pillow shell ordered and it was in the post within the next 24 hours, with a guess that it would arrive here in the States in about 10 days (I was on a time line, since I was hoping for arrival before my wife's birthday). Lynette was also kind enough to include a tracking number. The package made it to the States in relatively short order, but then it sat in Los Angeles for days, then a week, then two. I again contacted Lynette, who said that she would look in to the situation. She got back to me in a couple of days saying that the package had left LA and had also passed through our area post office and was currently in route to my residence. I received the package that day intact and in time for the wife's birthday. Thank you, Lynette, for going above and beyond in this situation. Your products are wonderful and your customer service speaks for itself.
