The windy city is a cornucopia of modern art, fine dining, cutting edge comedy, and die-hard sports fans. Snap a photo of your reflection in the silver Cloud Gate sculpture at Millennium Park before heading to Grant Park to get hit with the refreshing spray of Buckingham Fountain. There are dozens of museums and theater companies in Chicago, so a cultural experience is never hard to find. You’re sure to laugh your head off at the Second City Theater, the professional launch pad of many famous comedians.

We have a family tradition of stopping at this Ghirardelli location every time we are in Chicago. It's always hard to find a seat (especially for a family of 4), but persistence pays off as there are always customers coming and going. Ice cream sundaes (highly recommend the Lands' End with brownie, ice cream, fudge, caramel, and sea salt) are big enough to share and that helps offset the $10-15 price for a special occasion. Plenty of choice in chocolates, if you're in the mood for candy instead of (or in addition to!) ice cream specialties.

We welcome you to visit one of our family-owned, brick-and-mortar fine art galleries next time you're in Chicago. Upon entering our galleries, one experiences a journey through over 400 historic years of fine art development and creation - from the masters of the 1700s and 1800s to today's contemporary masters. And of course, all of Atlas Galleries' massive inventory is available to you for sale as it circulates on our galleries' exhibition walls. Discover our curated collections of art that link the past with the present. Out of the past emerge fine etchings by Rembrandt, Durer and Whistler as well as original oils and limited edition prints by Picasso, Menpes and Renoir. Next to these historic works of art one finds masterpieces by today's contemporary artists including JalinePol, Angel Botello, Ruth Bloch, Mackenzie Thorpe, Dr. Seuss, Markus Pierson and Chicago's very own artist, Michael Cheney. Each of our artist's styles and techniques are quite diverse and include the use of various media including paintings, sculptures, linocuts, and limited edition prints. Established in 1967 by Harriet and Jerry Petr, Atlas Galleries has become as firm a fixture on Chicago's luxurious North Michigan Avenue as the Water Tower, the Wrigley Building and the chic and exclusive boutiques and flagship retailers of the Magnificent Mile. Atlas Galleries has two centrally-located galleries on the 'Mag Mile" for your convenience, one located at 535 N. Michigan Avenue and the other, just a quick and entertaining stroll northward to 900 N. Michigan Avenue, level 6. As of 2015, Atlas Galleries' Petr family and staff have guided collectors through the ever-changing world of global fine art for over 48 years, facilitating countless client acquisitions and nearly an endless assortment of magnificent pieces. Diane Petr Hasenstab, President of Atlas Galleries, has dedicated several decades to her career working in her family business. The Atlas Galleries staff has been carefully cultivated over the years resulting in an incredibly artistically-knowledgeable team of fine art consultants and back-of-house specialists, many collectors themselves, several loyally dedicated to Atlas Galleries for over 20 years.

I’ve always had a love for Disney, so I was excited to shop at the Chicago store during our weekend in the Windy City! It’s a larger store than the one we have at home and still has the old feel of the original stores inside with a video screen in the back playing bits and snipets from beloved Disney shows/movies, characters hanging from the ceiling and working parts that go off periodically for all things magical!! I was impressed with many of the prices, as some things were typically priced, but others were very reasonable. They were having their Black Friday sale now. I found a white jersey with primary striped colors down the sleeves and says “Feeling Classic” on the back on sale for $34.99. It’s $59.95 in their catalog! My goal was to bring home items that were specific to Disney Chicago and I found ornaments, pins, water bottles and tumblers, and apparel in the store to choose from! It was Classic Disney all the way-can’t wait til go back!!
