It seems like every time of year is "in season" in Lenox, a small Berkshire town that has been a popular retreat since the 19th century. In summer, picnic on the lawn at Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer home. In fall, when foliage peaks, take to the hiking and biking paths of the Pleasant Valley Sanctuary to immerse yourself in the vibrant colors of the mountains. Winter visitors enjoy skiing at a number of resorts and cross-country trails, and in spring, hikers and golfers practice their pastimes in splendid settings. Rejuvenating treatments and pampering, at the well-known Cranwell Spa, are favored all year long.

Two decades ago in the village of Lenox, Massachusetts, Lynda Strauch, with her two young children, opened Concepts of Art. It was for her a business venture that combined two of her passions, art and Judaism. From a modest start, Concepts of Art/Lenox Judaica has grown to include several thousand Jewish ceremonial items, fine art, and jewelry, showcasing artists and products from Massachusetts to Jerusalem. Each item is personally chosen: from whimsical to elegant, from modestly priced to museum quality.

We stumbled upon the bookstore in our way home after lunch. The bookstore is closed to public during Covid but the owner Matt and his staff were beyond helpful and picked a few suggestions and showed them by the window. Three classic and one trending Stem books. We loved what they picked for us. They offer curbside pickup and hopefully when it’s safe to open the store we will be there to see their full collection!

Just got back from a 4 night, 5 day family vacation to the Berkshires. We shopped in Lenox, Great Barrington, Williamstown and Stockbridge and my favorite store during this trip was What A Gift in Lenox. A great selection of unique and creative gifts, good prices and the friendly owner was there to chat with. My wife, two daughters (9 and 7) and myself all found items of interest and would definitely recommend to family and friends visiting the area.
