Hakusan specializes in well-designed but practical porcelain dishes, bowls, cups, etc. Many of their designs date from the 1960's but are really modern classics. Hakusan has won many Good Design awards. Their factory store in Hasami is small, but filled with quality merchandise priced at a 30% discount. Because their designs are simple and not overly decorated, Hakusan can produce quality porcelain at low prices. I would consider Hakusan porcelain to be in the category of affordable modern artworks. The Hakusan factory store is just down the street from Hasami Ceramics Park, where there's a shop that features products from all the kilns in Hasami. If you travel by train, Hakusan is a 90-minute walk from the Arita train station. It's worth the trip! P.S. My last visit here was in 2018, but the drop-down menu did not have this option.
