New York’s Finger Lakes region takes its name from 11 freshwater lakes placed like a handprint between Lake Ontario and the Pennsylvania border. Skiing, hiking and biking trails traverse the landscape; visitors can also indulge in various wine, cheese and beer trails. The area offers a culinary bounty, with an emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine. Rich history and culture are found throughout the region, with one attraction more inviting than the next.

My adult daughter and I were on a girls trip and wanted to have some shared experiences. We really enjoyed making our own paperweights and blown glass pumpkins. The experience was both very informative and enjoyable. We were pleasantly surprised by how truly hands on it was when we were making the paperweights. It provided us both with memories of a great shared experience and wonderful keepsakes to take home. Highly recommend doing this.

We first experienced Muranda Cheese by purchasing some of their fantastic Blue Cheese at a Finger Lakes Garlic Festival earlier in the summer which featured many private regional vendors selling their goods. Then when we told a friend that we had out of state family coming into visit he told us Muranda is must do, both for ourselves and our visitors. Right on the money! A peaceful setting a few miles to east of Seneca Lake, Muranda uses a refurbished very old barn as it's commercial home. The history in the late 1800s barn, if the walls could talk, can't adequately be described here. But, it's very cool. The cheese tasting features 16 different samples with very interesting doses of information provided with each sample by a pleasant, knowledgeable staff member. Be sure you have something to drink as you do the tastings. They have various wines from local producers on hand along with craft beer, craft soda and hard cider. The barn has tables both inside and outside on the back porch to hangout and enjoy their cheese products and the other local beverages they sell. They also have quite a bit of local hand-made crafts for sale along with the cheeses that you just sampled. You know it's artisan stuff, small batch produced because not every cheese is available all of the time. We liked Muranda so much that we were there on a summer Tuesday afternoon and were back there for live music Sunday afternoon. it's a relaxing, comfortable vibe and one that has people coming from all over to enjoy.

Such a great store! Something for everyone. We gave the green hearts as gifts. So pretty. They certainly reflect the Finger Lakes! The candies are awesome. Really close to Canandaigua or just off the thruway if you’re traveling to Rochester. Well worth the time. Scenery to and from is beautiful as well. Watch for the green hearts while you are out and about.❤️
