The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

A bookshop with subject matter for the gay community.
Busy Sunday Opening. I live this book shop ever since I heard about it a couple of years ago. A bookshop that is home to LGBTQ+ books? I am there and settling in! The shop is accessible to get into - although if you are in a wheelchair it might be difficult with the entrance way in regards to turning, also for anyone with anxiety issues, maybe wait until an hour before the shop closes to take a look around, as it’s a small shop it can get a bit tight. Everything is laid out wonderfully in sections, spaces of the Gay novels, Lesbian novels, young adult queer novels, books about the history of queerness, more information on the different sexuality’s like bisexual and asexual, along with other books that can go hand in hand with that of the LGBTQ+ community. The shop worker was at the till, for safety reasons due to the till, but was happy to give advice to people or direct them to where the book they were after was. If you are wanting to go to a book shop that is proud to have its books out on display for the general public to see, this will be your first port of call.

Absolutely amazing service from beginning to end. I needed a personalised item painted with pictures of grandchildren on it and contacted Cosmo to ask if this was possible. They were able to paint me a mark which is highly personalised and a one off. My daughter is going to love it when she sees it and best of all it is microwaveable as she often forgets to drink her tea running around after three children .thank you very much for your amazing service from beginning to end and for the artwork and well done to the artist. I would highly recommend this service as its unique and personalised and they have a wonderful array of China and gifts .

Me and my partner popped in on christmas eve to collect my new hat. After having a fitting previously by a very helpful young man, we were this time greeted by the store owner and his noble grey hound ♥ I had a quick refitting and left super happy with an amazing new hat for my collection. Everything in Thomas Farthing is of pristine quality hence the higher mark up price. Absolutely work the money so will be parting with my hard earned wages to buy myself a new suit in the new year.

At present Skoob Books has a secondhand bookshop in Bloomsbury, London and a large internet business in Didcot, Oxfordshire (PsychoBabel). It was originally established in 1979 by a group of redundant staff of Poole’s, the first shop was in Long Acre. The locations have changed over the years, including Bury Place (now LRB Bookshop), Sicilian Avenue, and during the 1980s and 1990s there were branches in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Chris Edwards, the present CEO, purchased Skoob Books in 2006. Skoob Books also provides books for theatre, film and photo sets – projects include work for the National Theatre, ITV, James Bond and Martin Scorcese. It was awarded ‘The Best London Bookshop’ by Time Out in 2010 and ‘Highly Commended’ for Small Business of the Year 2015 by Business Camden Awards. It also became the first London bookshop awarded the Living Wage Employer accreditation. Skoob Books is a long-time member of the Booksellers Association and PBFA.
Skoob Books is basement treasure chest and a great place for anyone with time and the will to loose themselves in the shelves and stacks of books to find some great reads for any taste and used academic lit. Staff are friendly and helpful and the organisation is kept up well.
