This beautiful unassuming restaurant is tucked away on the Insel camping site right on the Mosel River. The views are spectacular, taking in all the river traffic and enjoying looking at the vineyards. The food is wonderful, freshly cooked and excellant value for money. The staff very attentive. Food is served all day and well worth a visit!

Just went there during dinner as was residing in a hotel close by. Great location, friendly staff and good food. Mainly local and if course local wines which are awsome. Can recommend this restaurant for a visit.

Old wine making 'farm' with nice interior full of old equipment related to wine making. Inside, it can become quite noisy due to sound reflecting walls and ceiling. Awesome terrace! Kind service and waiting staff. Menu card with wine related choice, many many local wines and dishes with regional ingredients. The descriptions look quite contemporary, but the result on the plate is rather not. Food is good, but still quite 'German' and not as refined as you might expect. Overall atmosphere and experience is good and we would certinly return.

The restaurant is placed in an historic castle mill from the 11th century. "Alte Mühle" Thomas Höreth is located in a sunny side valley of the Moselle. Steep terraced vineyards reach close to the mill. Pilgrims used to eat here in ancient times when they

..and every meal a delight. Charming service of delicious food in sensible portions and excellent value to boot. Dinner for two around â¬45. Chanterelle ragout, baked zander, neck of pork...carefully prepared by a chef who knows what's what. Well worth the 10 mile round trip each night from the Hotel Burgschanke where we are staying on the other side of the river.

We went to Winningen to check out the restaurants and parked close to Klein's Fronhof so we sat outside to have a drink. The two waiters were of a type, disinterested and surly. A cyclist who tried to leave his bike against the wall was severely chastised in no uncertain terms by mine host so he left without refreshment. Nothing wrong with the wine or coffee but the complete lack of hospitality was totally at odds with our experiences in Germany. The following evening we decided to try a meal there. Just after 8.00 pm I asked one of the waiters if we could have a table for two and was told no, the place was now closed. Now I'm sure he meant fully booked but he was brusque to the point of rudeness. We have another 4 days in the area and wont be returning. Fortunately the night before we had an excellent meal round the corner in Brunnenklause so we went back there to be greeted warmly and enjoyed another excellent meal.

Sat down here at 8pm on a Saturday evening. It was quite busy. It was difficult to get attention, you had to chase a waitress rather than them coming to you.Ordered drinks, starter and main course. Drinks came fairly quickly. Starter arrived at 8.30pm. Then we sat until 9.30pm with no food. We were sat next to a group of 4. The 1st diner had finished his meal before the 4th diner had got their food. At 9.30 I asked where the food was and I was told 'We only have a small kitchen'. I don't class myself as a business genius but the obvious answer is have less tables. Waitresses seem to be coming out with just one plate at a time.At 9.40 after waiting 1 hour 10 minutes for my meal, I paid for my drinks and left.Wild horses wouldn't drag me back there.
