Family owned hotel and restaurant. They make and serve themselves. Food is excellent and people are very friendly. Has a nice local atmosphere. The location is in the middle of the a very well kept medieval town of Wangen im Allgaeu with a lot of house paintings.Parking at the hotel is very limited but there are parking lots in short walking distance.

We are so happy this place was suggested to us by a friend who had heard good things about it. Ha, good things, I would say great things. This is a bit out of town but well worth seeking out. The food and service is excellent, actually better than excellent, exceptional, since it's pretty difficult to get bad service in Germany. One of us is vegetarian and one a carnivore. There was so much to choose from for both of us and all absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. But what took us back a second time was the sumptuous salad. On the surface it seemed like the traditional salads we'd been having with the shredded carrots, potato salad, beets, etc nestled underneath a cap of freshly washed perky lettuce but after one bite, I didn't want to share this one. The dressing was so delicious I asked for the recipe that couldn't be shared. Every bite was mouthwateringly crisp and fresh from the garden. And do went the meal. Don't miss this one, for sure!

In Wangen, there is a lot of cuteness on offer. There are even some bright modern places that serve global dishes that are pre-prepared or re-heated. Then there is this place, which is a little less twee and a little less modern than the competition, but which offers food that IS SERIOUS. So if you want to actually eat something that is actually prepared by an actual chef, this place is (as far as i can surmise) your only option. He has specialized in cooking game and he does an excellent job for a very fair price. I can say that the Venison Maultaschen were the best of these German little stuffed pastries that I have had with any filling. The secret was that the ingredients were mixed enough to create a delicately seasoned whole and delivered as a roulade as opposed to a simple ravioli. The venison steak was similarly excellent. - pink tender and perfect. Looking at the dishes of other diners, I knew that this chef (who appears to be the proprietor) knew his way around the kitchen. The beer (local) was very good, the wine list a little sparse , but I would surely go again.

We stopped here while on the road, with no reservation and on Easter Monday (!!!), just hoping for luck. And kick it was! Although all tables were booked out, the owner let us use a table at the entrance, which I don't think they normally use for guests. Service was very friendly, way above normal standards for the region. The food is typical southern German style, very well done with high quality ingredients. For the sunny and warm days, they have a spectacular garden/terrace, which we could not enjoy as it was pouring. Definitely a great place, especially for families!

If you are traveling through the Lake of Constance region and would like to get one step away from tourism and more into the local scene, then this is a choice which offers diversity when eating and and a European experience. For children they have an area where there is a goat zoo, hay stacks to climb, and open spaces to play around. For the adults they have different rooms with unique flairs and outside dining with an outlook point facing the Alpine ranges. This is also a popular place for wedding events, birthdays and special music party's and presentations. The customer service is very good with the waitresses and waiters dressed up in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl. What I missed perhaps that the owner was not dressed perhaps in a Lederhosen and looked a bit sloppy in appearance and only made relation efforts with guest that he particularly knows. His wife has a high level of emotional intelligence and she is surely a gem in this place.

Der Weg ins Lamm sich immer lohnt, auch wenn man ganz wo anderst wohnt. Schmeck den Süden Baden Württemberg Gastronom mit zwei Löwen.Frische regionale Produkte immer dann wenn Saison dafür ist.
This seems to be more of a local place where groups might meet up or local card games played out. The atmosphere is simple, but very clean and tidy and welcoming. The waitresses have traditional tops on and are authentically perky. The chef makes a very good impression is a real foodie. The menu offers traditional German food, has vegetarian selections and even will offer vegan options open request. The restuarant is just off the main strip, but the prices are an excellent value for what you are receiving for your palate. Many people choose places to people watch or to be seen in the in seen. This is more of a secret gem tucked in between stores and should not be overlooked...even though it is easy to overlook.

I was just ordering a "Schweizer Wurstsalat" - "Swiss Sausage Salad", which is a speciality in southern Germany, Swiss and Austria. I had a perfect dark beer with it - and I was so happy with this experience. Love to come more often!

More than 500 years old bakery and tavern: we serve beer, hot "Leberkaes" (a kind of meat loaf), hot and cold sandwiches, soups, traditional snacks, breakfast, fresh rolls, soft pretzels and cakes from the bakery. We only use our own recipes to bake our b
This place is a funny place,... it is traditional and people are friendly. Many local people that have no problem to chat a bit. The menu is very limited,... but you do not go here so much for the food (except the Seele bread). The Leberkaes meatloaf is not bad,... but also not better as you get it in a good german supermarket. Just go here when the weather is good,... sit in the back on the small terrace, drink a beer, enjoy the bread and some meatloaf or white sausage and you'll have a good time!Thank you very much for your review! I'm sorry that the food we offered was only ok for you. We're trying to make simple food but very good food. Our "Leberkaes" - the meatloaf - is made by a local butcher who uses very good meat from local farms. The recipe is very old and we believe it's special!
