Our family of 7 came for lunch on Father's Day, which is celebrated Mid-May in Germany. We were seated right away with reservations and a pleasant server kindly took our order. While all the food was absolutely delicious, I found the service slightly unprofessional for European standards. The waitress forgot to serve my asparagus soup. It was brought out quite a while after I called it to her attention and plunked down without an apology. Other than that we had a great lunch with traditional German dishes such as Schnitzel and baked Scholle (a seasonal freshwater fish). A good experience overall.

The region has several small breweries and this is one of them. The plus from this is that they have own beer (though only the Zwickl matched my taste). There are quite many seats, but due to the number of visitors, a reservation is recommended. I was expecting a bit more from the food, but it was still of the normal franconian restaurant quality. One minus from me comes from the modernization done half-way with a huge TV hanging on the wall next to the 70's brown deco, or small video screens on pissoirs. Maybe one could've survived without them...

The restaurant's outdoor biergarten makes for a pleasant setting and although there is only one beer on the menu -- either light or dark -- it is very good. The food was well prepared, but one of the three meals we ordered was disappointing, one okay and one good. I'd recommend the Weiner schnitzel with potato salad, but the venison was tough. The rump steak was good, but the French fries may have been frozen. If you stick to the Weiner schnitzel and beer, you will have a very good meal at a very reasonable price.

We went for a walk in the region and decided to walk to this restaurant for lunch. The old mill has a stream running by it and there were many diners on this bright and beautiful day. There are surrounding grounds for picnics and a pony to amuse the kids. A small water mill by the side of the restaurant and old wagon filled with flowers - complete the idyllic picture of country charm. Surrounded by forests and farms, it is a lovely ~3km walk from Wiesenttal-Muggenhof for lunch. The main dining area is like a winter garden with views of the surroundings with traditional German farmhouse decor, traditional and cozy. It was full but we managed to get a table without reservation and tried a number of typical dishes. We ordered schnitzel with fries (meat was juicy and the breaded coating was crispy and not too thick) - extremely tasty. We also ordered the pan-fried trout and saibling, both are local fishes, served with german potato salad. The fishes were extremely fresh and delicious simply with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Each main course comes with a small serve of salad that was fresh and deliclious (sweet, acidic dressing) and without the pickled vegetables. We ended lunch with 3 types of cake, the chocolate cream; Bienenstich (cream filled cake/ pastry with almond flakes) and the cherry chocolate chip cake. All were delicious and tasted home made. The cream from the Bienenstich tasted more like butter and cream instead of the usual whipped cream from a can. Local beers and freshly brewed coffee complemented the meal. It is definitely absolutely good traditional food and we paid probably the same price as if we had eaten at Pizza Hut with salads and sides? Extremely good value and highly recommended!

This is like stepping back in time with a cozy interior and simple great food. Both their Dunkles and Helles beers are excellent and served in classic Seidla style mugs. I've eaten there numerous time and it's always been worth the effort to get there. If you don't have a car, it's not the easiest place to get to but it is on a great trail network so walking there is not only possible but nice in and of itself. Try the Glasfleisch, meat preserved in a jar served with some of the best Bratkartoffeln (roasted potatoes) you'll ever have. The Krenfleisch is a great hot meal of sliced beef in a creamy horseradish sauce.

Essen zu brauchbaren Preisen. Deftig und schmackhaft. Das Bier süffig und die Bedienung sehr flott. Man sollte aber vorher nach einer Reservierung fragen. Es sind auch Hausgäste vorhanden.

The restaurant lies a bit sideways form the town center, but is worth visiting. The view is nice, the food is surprisingly good, and you can get beer from the in-town brewery here. As a small dish I can recommend the "Sülze mit Bratkartoffeln".

Went here with relatives from nearby during a visit there from the States recently. Beer was the best I've had, and service was absolutely exceptional. Food was super, and typically upper Franconian. Schweinebraten with dumplings and sauerkraut were very tasty. Not an easy place to find without GPS, as Breitenlesau is a small village; the brewery is surprisingly very big for such a "kleine Dorf".
