It's a lovely place with a great view. However I found it over priced. We ordered a cheese plate and while the presentation was very pretty it was short on substance. We had three pieces of store bought brown sandwich bread with four slices of packaged cheese and a little flavored cream cheese. Visually pleasing bit disappointing overall. The wine was good but it's hard to have bad wine in the Mosel Valley!

I came here with my companion for my birthday based on reviews from people on Trip Advisor and I was NOT disappointed! Be sure to arrive by at least 18.30 if you want a table on the outside terrace as tables are limited. My companion ordered a ragout of venison and I had the trout. Both plates were plentiful and delicious. Great wine as well (we recommend asking for the red wine DORNFELDER (Dry).

After your tour of Eltz Castle, you can get a decent bratwurst, beer, and they have a good children's menu as well. NIce indoor/outdoor seating area and fast service at a counter.

Great experience at the hospitable Weingut Sonneneck! Communication on beforehand was smooth & quick and when we requested a last minute change of time (because of bad weather) this was no issue either. We had a warm welcome and were seated at a long table next to the fire. We are with a family of 10 and were hosted by the owner herself, Angela. Angela told the story of the winery and her family estate with clarity and passion, bút only in German! For most of us no problem as we're from the Netherlands but maybe this would be an opportunity to improve upon if they would like to commercialize even further. Angela poured very generous tasting glasses and with each wine she explained in detail the background, grapevariety, style of wine, flavour and pairing combinations. Great was also that she checked whether we preferred sweet or dry wines on beforehand (we went for dry). After a couple of glasses we got the platters of local specialties on the table. This tasted great and looked beautiful as well. Local cuts of meat, rye bread, cheese and spreads were presented. After we were done with the tasting of six different wines we got invited to check out the cellars. Of course we wanted to see this! Her husband was in full action working on the filtration of the wine and we got to see the process. Next to this she invited us to taste a bit of the superfresh 2018 harvest, straight from the INOX tanks. Of course this wine is not yet ready but still cool to taste of course! A walk through the cellars revealed great passion, craftsmanship and innovation at this winery. Although small family business they produce great quality wine made from Riesling, Rivaner, Spätburgunder (pinot noir) and some other less known grape varieties. We would definitely recommend to go here and spend time with the family on learning and tasting about their winery. We paid 22.50⬠per person for tasting of 6 glasses (generously poured) and tasting platter of food (which was a lot) ánd a cellar tour. We feel this is very reasonable. Paying by card and buying wine in their shop on the spot is also possible. Thanks again Angela and the family for having us! We had a great time. Warm regards,Casper & the family

This restaurant is part of an old-skool tavern-like setup, as it's also a hotel and a small grocery store. It's in a tiny village. We were in the hotel upstairs, and liked the food so much that we just ate in all three nights that we staid there. We required gluten-free food, and while there weren't many options that were originally gluten-free, the staff was eager to suggest changes to dishes to accommodate our needs. Excellent. And even though it was in a small village, the eatery was rather lively, especially at friday night, when the patio was filled with locals who all greeted each other when they came and went, yet you never felt like a stranger. This might make the restaurant even more attractive, if you want to get a feel of local life.We had a total of five dishes there, split over two people over three diners, and especially the venison sauerbraten (deer meat that was tenderised with vinegar) in red wine sauce with pears was amazing (which is why we had five dishes instead of six). There's some good deserts as well, such as home-made plum preserve with nougat and ice cream, and the appetiser mushroom soup was amazing. The menu doesn't offer a hundred choices, but I always prefer a few very good choices over a lot of mediocre ones - at this place, you can be sure that the dishes on offer are really mastered by the chefs. If you're in the neighbourhood, exploring the region by car, consider dining at the Eifelhof, as you probably won't regret it.Minor downside: you have to pay in cash, so make sure to pass by a bank before. And It's tough to reach without a car, so you can't go all-out with the local wines unless you book a room, too.
Bediening was wisselend. De ene dame erg vriendelijk, de andere juist het tegendeel.

We ate at Am Stifstor twice this last weekend. There are not many restaurants in Treis-Karden where we were and the restaurant in our hotel was closed. The first night we ate out on the little terrace which is a cool spot. The second time we at inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals both nights and the service was good too. I would recommed Am Stifstor.

During our wine tour, we stayed in this place for 3 nights. Great location near the center of Treis-Karden. Room was very large with a big bathroom. Good breakfast. Excellent value in the restaurant with very good wines as well, which they produce. Very friendly and helpful owner.

An exquisite evening!Entree:salad on chantarelles, lettuce, quails eggs, Balsamico vinegar! Beautiful !Main course: rabbit with sage, gnoccis, and a wonderful vegetable I didn't recognize. Desserts sophisticated and delicious. The house itself oozes german biedermayer and the mail servant strutting selfconciosly around enhances that impression. But beware ! The food is on an unusually high level and belies the idea of heavy german cooking! This was elegant and worth every cent!! Thanks for a new angle og german cooking !!NB : The female waitresses were nice, efficient og smart!

Recommended by our hotel owner, we went. They were having a large group, so we almost couldn't dine. So glad they took us, as it was not only great food, but a wonderful experience. Lots of locals, even three dogs!
