Reviews on German food in Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. Surrounded by one of Germany's largest wine-growing regions, Stuttgart beckons cultural junkies with its acclaimed ballet, opera and philharmonic, while auto fans get revved up over the Mercedes Benz Museum. There's more green space than urban sprawl in the festival-friendly city, home to Europe's largest zoo and botanic garden combo, the Wilhelma. The WÂrttembergisches Landesmuseum, in one of the city's oldest structures, traces area history from the Stone Age. Buses or subway provide handy transport.

A cosy, authentic traditional Swabian restaurant located on the edge of Stuttgart's old town and bar/nightlife area. Located in an old Weinstube building with cosy, warm and intimate dining rooms off 3 floors ascended by a narrow, twisting staircase, the service is brisk and homely. The menu features hearty Swabian dishes of Pork and beef (beef brisket, beef steak) accompanied by hefty potato salads, fried potatoes and local noodle specialities. Not one for the fish lovers or vegetarians, this is hearty, filling fare at its best. Being a Weinstube, it's advisable to experiment with some of the local wines produced in the area as opposed to the excellent local brews - the reds are surprisingly flavoursome and full-bodied; Stuttgart is one of the few places in Europe with vines cultivated within the City limits, and the wines have certainly matured and improved in recent years.Great value for money, satisfying for the stomach and a genuine traditional experience. The Place to try if you're in Stuttgart looking to eat something local.

We were quite disappointed with our first visit. We really did not think our meals lived up to the ratings, recommendations from friends, and prices which are a bit higher than usual ~Eur 25 for an entrée. Since this restaurant has a Michelin "bib gourmand" rating, we've been wanting to try it out for years. The online reviews and numerous personal recommendations added to our excitement to use the opportunity of visiting family to finally go.We were all very underwhelmed. The decor is classy and warm and the service good. They were accommodating to our toddlers and we were happy to notice many more small children for an early dinner seating. The soups were terrific: a wonderful asparagus cream soup and a rich flavorful beef broth. But the maultaschen were over-herbed and did not pair well with the beef broth. For the entrées, the maultaschen omelette was criminally overcooked. The asparagus hollandaise sauce was thin, too vinagry, and lacking flavor overall. We really did not enjoy the veal kidneys, we've honestly have had far better in food halls and highway rest stops in France. And the sauce for the lovely and delicate fish was unpleasant, too much sweetness and the fennel was overpowering.Perhaps it was an off night, but we were sorely disappointed for a restaurant of that standing and reputation. There are many more solid establishments that offer a far better reliable value in the area. We won't be back.

I think even if the meal was mediocre, I'd have enjoyed it as there is such a wonderful feel to this place with the huge hand hewn beams and wooden tables. A little out of the way but definitely worth finding it. And the food - 5 of us and everything we had was good - especially the Maultaschen (kind of a German ravioli). Great evening!

The restaurant âZirbelstubeâ has been well known for more than 20 years to offer greatest hospitality, a cozy atmosphere and a Michelin star cuisine. Original wood panelled walls harmoniously combined with a large selection of modern art create a warm and
The prices are definitely Michelin star level, but the food does not match. The aromas were not well balanced and there were a few strange tastes with every course. Especially the sauces were somewhat difficult to enjoy. Dear Nomennescio_24,Thank you very much for your visit at the Zirbelstube and for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to read that you did not enjoy our actual menu; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Please note that we change our menu every four weeks - maybe the next menu will meet your expectations. We would highly appreciate to welcome you again at the Zirbelstube.Sincerely,Pascal FoechterléRestaurantmanager

This place accepted a group of 50 people for dinner even though they did not have enough capacity for this. For us it meant that we had to wait for a long time for the order to be served. Food was average, so nothing to write home about.

We've been going there for years but it just occurred to me to write a review of this unassuming restaurant which has consistently produced good value. The menu is short, divided between locally-sourced ingredients and "classic" offerings of the Schwaban cuisine (such as the entrecote with roasted onions). The emphasis on regional dishes guarantees freshness but also competence; these folks focus on what they do well. It is nice to know you will have a predictably-good dining experience and Speisekammer delivers. The decor is modern but not cold; the staff very friendly. The wine list features interesting local wines and a few foreign options.

"Der Rote Hirsch (the red deer)" is the modern interpretation of a regional wine restaurant. The well designed environment is a good place to enjoy. The concept of the restaurant is to use mostly regional and seasonal ingredients. The cuisine is modern-sw
This is a very nice and cosy place on the town square in Bad Cannstatt. The food was really tasty & fresh - European BBQ beef & local German famous dishes like Schnitzel, & to drink good local wine and some local craft beer. One of the best German dining experiences I had on my trip to Stuttgart.

If you read the title and you read my December 2016 review, you will learn that Hupperts demonstrates one of the most important aspects of fine dining - consistency. Not just in food quality, but in their approach, service, presentation and friendly, hard-to-replicate atmosphere. Third time is a charm. This latest visit sealed the deal for me. We invited friends with high standards when it comes to dining out. This visit to Hupperts didn't disappoint. I finally got to partake in the sweet cigar/drinks lounge in the basement. We were asked if a fire would be a nice addition - it was a bit cooler - and it was awesome. I really didn't want to leave. The service continued even then...The attitude of the staff is incredibly humble given their background and experience. You will not find a friendlier dining experience in Stuttgart.
