Reviews on German food in Rothenburg, Bavaria, Germany. Walk atop Rothenburg’s city walls or climb to the top of the town hall for great views. The Night Watchman tour is an unforgettable way to learn the city’s history. And our travelers also recommend the Medieval Crime Museum (Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum)—it’s gruesome but fascinating.

Reichelshofen, a truly recommendable place with history and tradition. Here you can, in the character of the Landwehr soldier experience s, excellent Franconian cuisine and hospitality as well as the high school Frankish art of brewing and beer tradition.
We stayed here last year and came back just to stay here again. I forgot how nice everything was. Impeccable maintenance and furnishings. The decor is perfect. The restaurant is great with outstanding service. It is always busy at Christmas, but we always felt cared for. I highly recommend this place, an easy 10 minute drive from Rothenburg.

Really rude female staff serving tonight. Too "busy" to bring over the menu or to serve us. Even though tables were free. Not welcoming to guests with babies/children. The manager apologised on her behalf and offered us free drinks but we didn't want to stay after such incompetent and shameful behaviour of the female staff concerned. Schade!!

Enjoy the Culinary Highlights of Rothenburg, skillfully interpreted by the Hotel Reichsküchenmeister. Franconia is world famous for its wines and regional food specialities. Our Chef is committed to the highest standards. We would like you to feel, taste
German cuisine, classic traditional food, nicely served, main courses portions were large. They had also great tea. There was possibility to seat outside. Area inside had classic old-fashion design and matched well to everything else. Nice staff, Reasonable prices.

Our restaurant specializes in Franconian fare with tasty dishes like marinated beef, and moist roast pork soaked in an unforgettable gravy, and a side of red kraut and potato dumplings. Try it with a glas of Franconian wine. Meet the locals in our restaur
Great place, right in the centre of Rothenburg. Trouble is after six nights, i am a bit fed up with meat and potato variants. At least tonight we managed to find some potato croquettes for a change. We started off in the lovely beer garden at the rear of the restaurant with a few drinks. Everything was great would recommend a visit to this typical tradition restaurant. It is hard to choose as you walk around this historic town as the streets are just teeming with such places.

If you enjoy german cuisine this is the right restaurant for you. It has Schweinshaxe, Maultaschen, Rotbarsch and several other traditional courses. We sat inside, the atmosphere is pleasant and the waitress was very helpful. The prices are fair. Nice option in this authentical historical town, were I have been for the second time.

Restaurant Alter Keller is conveniently located near the heart of the walled city but not as touristy as some of the others. The food was great and I enjoyed the outside table sitting without hundreds of tourists going by. The food was great!

We came across Klosterstuble while walking the streets of quaint Rothenburg, popped in to make a reservation for later in the evening, easy & no fuss. The atmosphere is very cozy, welcoming and very local. The service, food and drinks all outstanding, we will definitely be back again this December. Wonderful dining experience, thank you!

Be sure to request a reservation that can be done through their website, as the cozy, historic restaurant has limited seating and it was full when we arrived at 6:00 PM on a Thursday. The wait staff was very friendly and seated us in the front room to the left (as you enter.) The menu has lots of choices for drinks, and I decided to try a glass, then two, of the ânew wine.â Our server suggested that we try an onion tart which went well with the slightly fruity wine. He explained the specials and my husband ordered one of those â chanterelles with brown gravy, dumplings and salad plus he requested that pork be added to the dish. I ordered the steak and vegetable skewers that also included salad, slaw, zucchini and warm gravy for the (medium well) meat that was served at the table. My entree was delicious and offered enough food for two people!

You have the hotel listed but not the restaurant - excellent restaurant
After days of heavy tasteless meat, leaden dumplings, and oceans of cream-based sauces, it turns out that our own hotel has the best meal of the week. My roast duck was amazing! Little fat, cooked to perfection, served with a lovely wine sauce, fresh broccoli and delicious potato pancakes. My husbandâs beef stew was tasty. The service and atmosphere were excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Truly a marvelous dining experience. We dinned in a beautiful garden. Tables are in small groups separated by shrubs. It was peaceful and quiet. The menu, as has been mentioned in another review, is limited, but excellent. We had the 3-course dinner with a seaweed salad, cream asparagus soup and beef fillet, plus a green salad and dove supreme. The beef fillet was very good, but the dove was scrumptious. The seaweed salad was tasty and the soup was delicious. The service was also top drawer, attentive, but unobtrusive. I can't help but notice that all the staff are female - quite unusual in both Germany and Austria. Definitely try this place if you are looking for a culinary experience.
