We stayed at the hotel for four days and had the breakfast every day. It was good with many many different dishes...3 different juices and smoothie. Salmon, cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, peanut butter, skyr/yougurt, waffles, pancakes and so on
If you expect something special, go there for dinner. They are open for lunch at weekends, but then they have a reduced menue. If there are not too many guests, you may ask for wine tasting in the cellar and buy some bottles to have something to remember, when you are back home.I never saw a guesthouse with so many small rooms, which makes it cosy. But you may need asking for help to find your way back from the restroom (may be a bit exaggerated).

This lovely guesthouse was our overnight accommodation in Dörscheid while walking the Rheinsteig. Unfortunately it was raining on the day we were to walk this section of the path so we took the train and, on arriving in Dörscheid, realised we still had some distance to go before our destination. We rang Marcus to find out what travel arrangements we could make and he very kindly took time out from his work in the kitchen and came to collect us at the station. We were very grateful as it would have been a difficult walk in the rain.We had a beautiful room with a balcony and lovely views. Everything was clean, fresh and well maintained.Dinner was delicious, especially the fresh asparagus. Breakfast was also excellent. We were only able to spend one night here as we were hiking to our next destination, but we would certainly stay here again.

We were there for wine tasting by appointment, and a light snack while doing so. It took an hour to get a plate with Camembert and a brotchen. The wine we tasted was excellent so we left with 12 bottles. While we sat there (2.5 hours total) we noticed the traditional fare for the region and wished we had come to eat a meal. The food looked very good, it was unfortunate that we were not treated well.

We stayed at this hotel on an overnight stop and ate in the restaurant. The food was acceptable; good considering the low cost when included in the room rate. The staff were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the lady owner spent some time trying to dissuade us from taking the full 3 course menu and only having one or two courses. Despite her insistence that we would not be able to eat a 3 course meal the helpings were not so large and we were, in fact, easily able to finish the 3 course menu! She got FED UP AND LEFT US WHEN we persevered and also ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ingredients for my son who has a SERIOUS FOOD ALLERGY. Fortunately the serving staff were more professional. We - as a family, including our children, are interested in food and ingredients beyond the allergy problems over which we have to be so careful. We cannot understand how anyone attempting to run a quality restaurant can be so disinterested in her customers! Clearly it is an address to be avoided with children (and perhaps if you have allergy or other 'problems')and left to the older, local clientele.

When visiting Oberwesel, the Grunderodehaus should be on your "Must-Do" list. Authentic food, great service, fabulous view. You can either drive to the restaurant or take an uphill hike to its location. Wonderful introduction to Oberwesel and the Rhine River.

Having stayed here three times, it is clear we like the place! The quality and presentation of the food are outstanding! True for dinner and breakfast both! The setting, outside high above the Rhine on the scenic terrace of the restaurant( or,if inclement, also lovely in fine old atmospheric dining rooms full of character) only enhance the ding experience. Top quality service!

Sat down here at 8pm on a Saturday evening. It was quite busy. It was difficult to get attention, you had to chase a waitress rather than them coming to you.Ordered drinks, starter and main course. Drinks came fairly quickly. Starter arrived at 8.30pm. Then we sat until 9.30pm with no food. We were sat next to a group of 4. The 1st diner had finished his meal before the 4th diner had got their food. At 9.30 I asked where the food was and I was told 'We only have a small kitchen'. I don't class myself as a business genius but the obvious answer is have less tables. Waitresses seem to be coming out with just one plate at a time.At 9.40 after waiting 1 hour 10 minutes for my meal, I paid for my drinks and left.Wild horses wouldn't drag me back there.
