We didn't eat here, but the owners were very friendly and the inside of the bar/restauarant is very much like a good old English pub. There is also outside seating for warm evenings. The owners were very friendly and it is well worth a visit.

Drove up to Neckargamund from our campsite Haide and whilst the restaurant, a converted German pub! was full, we were accommodated immediately, given a shared table. Service was good and choice of food varied, freshly cooked, with good homely portions. We went back there the next night, and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Went there for lunch, downstairs was full so the waiter offered us a table upstairs. Easy setting. They a short menu that changes weekly weekly but can also help you with personal request (vegetarian, allergies etc) Fresh baked bread was serviced before the main course. Main course for all 3 in our group serviced at the same time. All had the right temperature. Chef used local ingredients we can see. Very tasteful and we will certainly come back.

The Zur Sonne does not get any drive-by customers...one does not go there by accident. The mailing address is Neckargemund, but the location is Dilsberg...a tiny walled town on a small mountain overlooking the Neckar River. The food is wonderful, and well worth the trip. Parking will likely not be available adjacent to the restaurant, but ample parking is provided just outside the gates to the town--although this entails a healthy walk up the hill. On our most recent visit, my wife had a lamb dish with a cous-cous dish that also featured figs. She observed at the time it was the best meal she'd ever had.

On a holiday in Heidelberg, the crowds were awful. So we caught a train to Neckarsteinach for some peace. What a find this place was! Located right next to the river amongst beautiful mountains, obviously popular with locals. Many rolled up on their bikes in groups for a few drinks. We loved it so much we also ordered dinner here. Only simple pub fare, meals from 10 to 20 euros, adequate choice of beers and wine. I definitely recommend a trip out to Neckarsteinach if you want to experience fresh air, mountains, and a relaxing few drinks with friends.

Jaberâs Garten (garden) is a small and cozy restaurant that serves well-prepared meals. Absolutely to be recommended.I spent a summer evening in Jaberâs Garten eating pikeperch in Prosecco sauce with rosemary potatoes and salad (Zanderfilet in Proseccosauce mit Rosmarinkartoffeln und Salat) â a delicious and light meal. âLightâ is important for me as a lady (âlightâ is not always easy to find in Germany). My friend tried the frozen yoghourt as a dessert, also excellent. The list of dishes on the menu looks enticing. As I understood, Jaber works behind the impressive bar, always spreading a smile and keeping the overview. The restaurant and the garden provide a magnificent view of the river Neckar and the castles around Neckarsteinach. You may have to reserve to get one of the tables with the view. The restaurant is located in the very center of Neckarstainach. Parking your car may be a small challenge; I found the last parking lot near Jaberâs garden. Not far away, you can park your car in the parking area âNeckaruferâ. When visiting Heidelberg, driving along the river Neckar upwards for 20 minutes to reach Neckarsteinach and Jaberâs Garten will be a relaxing and rewarding change from the tourist crowds, and you will experience the Odenwald forests growing on sandstone. I will surely visit Jaberâs garden again, when returning to my birthplace Heidelberg the next time.

Unpretentious, pleasant service, good generous portions, well-cooked. Pub food rather than restaurant food, perhaps; but good quality and good value.

The service was great: the staff are prompt, yet not intrusive and the ambiance special: old Fachwerkhaus, pleasantly decorated. The food was quite expensive and unfortunately not that great, mainly due to over-salting- can't say for all dishes, but the lamb and the Ochsenschwanz Essenz mit Sherry for sure. The scallops were slightly over-done, thus a bit tough, the same with the shrimp- Hummer Krabbe, if I remember correctly the German name. The salad was fresh and crisp, yet the yogurt sauce was nothing to write home about. The Filet Spitzen dish was good, but my husband had one piece of filet that tasted definitely off. The creme brulee was simply not creme brulee, but a custard that did not even vaguely remind of what is was supposed to be. All in all, disappointing, especially when we had such high expectations based on the reviews....I rated it average based on the great ambiance and service, that scored 5/5 for me, but the poor food brought the rating down to 3/5.
