Here you can find many Swebisch (and Swiss) specialties, the owner is friendly and the service rapid. The Portions are generous and the food good. Also the atmosphere is nice and traditional. Worths a visit when in Marbach.

Hard to find. About a block going up from the entrance is an outdoor (under a roof overhang) self service used book library with books in all languages for 2 Euros each. We ate in the Kronekeller (celler) which every Monday has special - Flammkuchen -similar to a very light thincrust pizza that is not tough or chewy. For dessert had the same thin crust with cream topped with thin slices of Apple and Apple brandy poured over it at the table and served flambé. Only open 11:30-2:30 and 5:30- 8:30

The headline says it all: The location right next to the Neckar is very nice. The food is acceptable with the quality of the meat for example being not very good. The self-service is one of the worst I have ever seen. You Q for several minutes to place the order, then you're sent away with a vibrating coaster. Be prepared to wait for more than one hour. Instead of constantly serving the food that is finished, they will call 10 to 15 people at the same time to pick up the food. Obviously this leads to queues again which is not exactly what to expect after you've waited for over an hour.

This is like food was in 1980 in a gasthaus before they all gave way to fast food. It is simple, but tasty. I highly recommend.

The Glocke is a traditional and not very exciting restaurant, but it has an acceptable standard and is worth a visit if one loves German food. The local has a mixed traditional and 1980s look and has hardly been upgraded the last 25 years. The staff was friendly, but seemingly not so interested in a non-local visitor. The food was a rather average experience. The salad served as a starter was not quite fresh, and things seemed to turn out very, very bad as I found a piece of plastic in it. I was more happy to try the Wildschwein aus eigener Jagd (wild boar from their own hunting), which was a very good experience, served with a delicious brown sauce and house made spätzle. All of it made a good impression, except for an attempted arty decoration of whipped cream on the plate, which was uneatable because the cream was sour. The main course was acceptable, but the details were unfortunately big failures.

Following a rather disastrous experience when eating out with the family (they're visiting from Spain) the day before, this place has made our week!We were somewhat late for lunch by German standards and were still welcome to take a seat in the outdoor terrace that is bordered by what I think is a part of the historical town wall. What a beautiful place to sit in the historical town of Marbach! If I got it right, the place is run by a middle aged couple. Rather than talking about "service", I'd like to compare this as being for lunch at your aunt's who does really good home cooking and is taking special care to make things just right for you. It's not the sleek choreography they exercise at hotels, but it certainly has it's charm. The food is very good home cooking, we had authentic home made Maultaschen (with lots of meaty filling and easy on the veggies; those were certainly made from scratch!) and duck breast on sautéed beets and corn frittatas. Dessert was really good, especially the home made ice cream and sorbet. The price point is very reasonable, as the quality and preparation of food was quite excellent. We really did enjoy our lunch there very much!
