We came across the Einkehr on the way to Bastei. After three weeks of German cooking we were expecting standard fare and being hungry and in a remote area we did not expect much. We were very surprised by a small but wonderful selection ( Crepe with Mushrooms or the Fisk is highly recommended). The service was superior and very friendly. It was a jewel in a beautiful area of Sachisischen Schweiz, and very "price wertig" ( price worthy) as they say!!

This restaurant is extremely well situated on a terrace overlooking the River Elbe and ferry moving to and from Struppen. The beer was excellent, the service efficient, and the food very good. A wonderful way to unwind after the strenuous business of walking up to Bastei Rock Bridge and the Amselfalls village.

Hotel zur Aussicht
I had a good dinner here with the locally farmed trout. The restaurant has a cosy décor with a lot of wood. And in summer it would be also very lovely to eat on their lovely sun terrace, with great views of the town and the castle.

Luckily we found this nice place to have dinner and we were nicely surprised by the friendly staff, great service and super delicious food.My wife is vegetarian and had a very nice salad and I had very nice, delicious and well prepared meat accompanied with green beans with bacon and Knödel. In addition to that, we sat at the Bier Garten with a great view!In the end we had a Strawberry Tiramisu, which was also good.We are coming back today for dinner! :-)

My wife and I had dinner there. I had the Bohemian Schweize mushroom (pfefferlinge) with cream with knödel (dumpling). Mine was very tasty and filling. She had the trout with butter and lemon which she said was delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive as they could be, as it was busy. Happily recommend. Only criticism is that she thought that the side salad dressing was a bit of a let down. I thought it was fine.

We went there for one night, when we were hiking the "Malerweg" in the "Saxonian Swiss". The rooms are simple and old fashioned but clean. The food was good and plenty. The staff is sometimes a little bit "missing" but we had time. Because of the weather it was not crowded and everything was very relaxed. We had Bohemian goulash and schnitzel, some german beer and wine and after all we paid including tax etc. not more than 140 Euros for 2 beds incl. rich breakfast, 2 times dinner and so on. We will definitively come back the next time.

We ate three very different evening meals at this restaurant as part of a package with the hotel. Each meal was excellent in different ways. The ingredients were fresh and seasonal. There were interesting touches and creativity for the meals while retaining the traditional German standards. The views from the restaurant are truly amazing! It is worth eating here just for the views! After your meal, you can stroll down to the Bastei Bridge and have it all to yourself.Thank you for your stay in our house and the subsequent assessment. We are pleased that you enjoyed it and thank you for the information. We would be pleased to welcome you at our Berghotel Bastei again. Yours faithfully - the Bastei team

Went there on a sunny Saturday evening and sat outside as most others. Great, imaginative food from local suppliers.

To be honest, we weren't sure what this place was until I went to order. Basically, the sell nothing but whole smoked fish, accompanied by a slice of German bread, and a wedge of lime. You can also get pickles and others as extra, but we went for the simplest of the dishes. I'm never been a big fan of smoked anything, but then this place changed my mind of how a smoked fish should taste like; it was warm, moist, tender, juicy and with a hint of smoky flavour all in one.I don't think I need to recommend this place as everyone who's passing through Rathen appeared to stop by.
