While strolling along the river walk on a very hot afternoon, we came across a very nice little plaza filled with people eating outdoors. We decided on this restaurant because we wanted authentic local food, and we hit the jackpot. Everything was delicious, great cold beer and a very efficient and friendly service. Loved it!

Visited in May and we were there early for dinner, not too busy but very good service. We tried the white asparagus soup (many restaurants were featuring it) and it was great. We had the breaded pork cutlet with cheese and ham, very good. And the port tenderloin with creamy mushroom sauce and German noodles, also very good. The wine selection was OK, we tried a local red wine '1838' vintage 2016 and it was good.

Ok, just so you donât miss this fact: NO CREDIT CARDS - Cash Only! This is a place from the past in its furnishings, atmosphere and food. A nice mixture of tourists, businessmen and locals. In Sachsenhausen, but definitely not a touristy place. The schnitzel with the green sauce was very good. Wait staff was friendly too. Outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. Prices are very good and portions are big.

Lovely place ever. Good service but she cannot speak english. Sausages are wonderfully amazing. And even cheap! You should visit here. ***if you go where tripadviser indicate, you cannot find this place. If you go there, there will be a door leading to a hall market. Go straight for 1min. And left side, there will be a Ma'am and lovely smell of sausages.#sorry for the photo. I was so obssed with sausages that I forgot to take a picture of this.

I came here for lunch and ordered a schnitzel, fried potato, salad and a nice Weisen beer. The schnitzel was delicious but I found the fried potato to be very tasty. It was not too salty and has a hint of sweetness. The service was good and the price was reasonable too.

My friend's office was having their annual Christmas Party at Zum Lahmen Esel and he let me tag along. Our group was seated in a small room just inside the door. We had two servers dedicated to us and they were constantly in and out doing their best to keep up with us. They were very helpful when it was discovered that we had more people than space and moved things around to get everyone to fit. I tried the Scheurebe wine which was very smooth and sweet like I like it. My goulash with spaetzle and salad was also very good. The meat was tender and the spaetzle was cooked well. The sauce was a bit stouter than I like but accompanied the meat well. I got the chance to try my friend's schnitzel parmesan which while a bit thick had this amazing cheesy tomato sauce on it. Overall it was a good meal.

Applewine restaurant with traditional local Frankfurt cuisine and typical drinks. Cash only - no debit or credit cards.
Place was crowded when we visited in May. Seating at a long table was quick and service was great. We went with the Ebbelwoi Apple wine, which is a nice accompaniment to sausage and sauerkraut. We had the Kartoffelworst (sausage with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes) and the Gekochtes Rippchen (pork cutlet, apple sauerkraut, mashed potatoes). Good food and a lively and friendly environment. There are many places to get this type of traditional meal and this one is particularly economical.
