OK, first thing to comment is that the decor inside is pretty bad.... but the food is wonderful. Service is OK.... in summer you can sit outside at the back and it's quite a delight there. All in all, I do prefer Zur Krone, but Zum Grünen Baum manages to hold its own.

Quality of the plates are average, but rate is for the location!Great place for parents with kids. Parents can sit in the "Bayern - style" beergarten and can oversee their children on the playground downstairs. Interior of restaurant is very cosy, romantic, old style, farmhouse, wooden. Prices for plates: between 7 - 16 euros. Typical German menu and beers / wine.

Maybe it was because the sun was shining and it was nice watching people playing tennis but I like this restaurant and always have. Staff are very friendly and the food good - you probably should go if your are a vegetarian :-)

In the middle of winter, with snow outside, it almost seems like you are in a ski hut in the alps. The food is good, the atmosphere rustic and comfortable. I like this place a lot, and would recommend it to all to try.

An excellent find in Kelkheim. Authentic southern French cuisine complemented with tasty French and German wines, coffee, and Schnapps. We had the onion soup, a Flammkuchen, risotto, and duck; everything was awesome and very reasonably priced. The owner Danilo is very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is both cozy (in a nice way) and warm without being stuffy or kitschy. Textures, flowers, art...all done very well. Definitely a rare gem in a sea of trees (and I mean that in a nice way).

Hof Gimbach buzzes with families, bike tour groups, joggers, children, riders and locals enjoying the food overlooking green flowing fields. A tranquil place to be. I just had a soup and tried the Kaiserschmarrn. Unfortunately the Kaiserschmarrn was just a hacked up pancake but it was filling and sweet. When here and you're with a group be sure to reserve a table!

They remade/renovated the establishment back in 2014. The new strategy is a gourmet burger restaurant, which I would typically avoid. But I went and tested their menu. First, they have their own beer, which is fairly good. Second, the menu is mostly burgers....but absolutely better than your typical burger. Third, there is a outdoor garden area for summer periods.....which brings some charm and character to the establishment. Prices might be higher than you'd typically expect, but the quality of the dinner is four-star.....at least by burger standards. Nice place for a group of six to eight to visit. Definitely requires a reservation for Friday/Saturday night....limited tables on interior. As you head into town, it's on the right side going down the hill. Parking to the street by it (VERY limited parking). Note, there is a blitz-camera nearby. I would highly recommend it.

Parking can be found about 400 ft away (more than enough). So the restaurant can be best described as an authentic German place. Great food, decent menu. They have a very good beer selection. I would suggest making a reservation on Friday and Saturday night. On Sundays....they offer a brunch. Prices are what you'd expect around this region. For summer period, the beer-garden is four-star.
Have stayed here for a few times for Frankfurt Book Fair - it's about a 20 min commuter train ride into the city from Eppstein. I also prefer the cosy hospitality of this place to the impersonal and soulless chains further into the city,This year was my first stay since Seyfettin handed the business over to his nephew who has done an excellent job of stepping into his uncle's shoes. Rooms are basic, yet clean and comfortable. Not all are en suite, so check when booking. Overall however, I don't think that there is better value to be had anywhere else near Frankfurt. The bar is also a good place to hang out - they offer a decent selection of beers.

We visited the Restaurant Pflasterschisser on a Sunday lunchtime in Jan 2014. The table was reserved in advance (Schlemmerblock) for 6 persons. After a friendly greeting we were shown to a reserved table on the first floor. The restaurant was very busy with most tables occupied. Everything was impeccably clean and the table was attractively set with fresh flowers. Indeed very inviting. The historical timber framed building with its old beams added to the charm and ambiance. The service was very friendly despite the rather long waiting time for the main course. The manageress apologized, emphasizing the point that all food was freshly prepared, and she did not want to loose this high-quality aspect by serving âfast foodâ. Our reply was - Itâs Sunday Lunchtime, no hurry at all.The salad was very good, well presented with a tasty french dressing. The main courses arrived and were enjoyed by all. All very tasty and worth the wait.In all we had a very agreeable Sunday lunch in an interesting old building (555 years old !!!) The restaurant is situated in the âmarketplaceâ (Wernerplatz) in Eppstein with the old castle towering above it. The S-Bahn station is just a 5 minute walk away making it easy to get to by train from Frankfurt.A perfect destination from Frankfurt for an excellent meal, combined with a historic setting and hilly countryside for walking.
