We weren't overly impressed with Joska overall, but the kids were hungry so we went to the restaurant to get something to eat. We got ice cream because nothing else on the menu seemed to be available ("Popcorn please" -- "We don't have any more"; "Slush please" [which we saw churning in its bowl!] -- "No, it isn't ready" [although she gave some to the next person who came asking for it!]....). And the prices of the few items we were able to get were rather high. Not a very pleasant experience overall...

A very clean and tidy, typical Bavarian Restaurant / 'Pub', whose name could be interpreted into English as "The Poachers Inn". It is located on the main street through Bodenmais, which itself is a lovely little holiday town in Bavaria and which caters very well for both the Summer and Winter (Ski-ing) holiday-makers. There are plenty of tables available inside in booths affording some privacy and also a large, open dining room with room for quite a few more. Outside, on a small enclosed terrace (only a decorative low wall, it must be said, so you can watch the world pass by), there are about a dozen tables for dining outside. It is always seems quite busy though never TOO busy, both with visitors and from the adjacent hotel, of which it is a part (separate building, although there is some accommodation above the restaurant, I believe), providing the restaurant service to the Apparthotel (Appartment Hotel)..The menu is Bavarian/German, in all its glory, and is well prepared, cooked and presented at table by a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff. There is also a good selection of German beer and wines, as well as a devilish selection of cream and chocolate gateaux . . . very tasty! For the non-German speakers amongst us, don't worry, enough good English is spoken in the Inn and you certainly will not starve ;-)Prices are v.good and will not bust the holiday budget, even if you 'splash out'.
Deswegen top so.
Everything you get there is high quality - beef, pork , ham and devon . Some very nice choices of bacon, salami and just here venison ham. They offer an excellent choice of cheeses as well.If you´re in a hurry they have big choice of finished dishes (pork , beef and chicken) as sides they offer french fries (Pommes frites) potatoes, noodles and rice and some salad choices and breads as well.

It is a small, Bavarian restaurant with no fancy design but delicious food and great atmosphere. Real Bavarian experience. Here you must come hungry - portions are according to Bavarian standard :)

Nothing major to write about here but that they have a decent offering of German cuisine. In case you like to eat Beef and Pork and are a typical German cuisine enthusiast, you may like this place. We had ordered a Fried Chicken with Potato salad and a Pork Schnitzel with fries. Would say that the taste was okay and nothing great.Recommended if you are a German cuisine fan.

My partner and I fell across this restaurant tonight and it was a nice contrast to the beer gardens we had previously eaten at. The food is very well presented and tastes excellent. The staff did all they could to help us - we were not fluent German speakers. The fish I had which was zanderfilet was excellently presented with a tasty crust and finly chopped vegetables and a tomato and mars opine sauce. It also came with little spinach dumplings. My partner had the chicken which strangely came with a bowl of pasta but was equally nice. To finish we had the Mille fuille which was a beautiful stacked chocolate wafer desert with different types of cream filling and a CPU is of mango. Well as a selection of other chits. The espressos was properly served with a glass of water and the whole experience came in at about 44 euros which we considered to be excellent value. We wished we were staying in that hotel.

Across from the Bahnhof, this restaurant, connected to the brewery, distillery and hotel, served some of the best food we had in Bavaria.
It is always nice when you can have good food, pleasent surroundings and drink local beer. We visited on a Sunday and it was full, but service still very good. Bodenmais is a successful tourist destination so there is a lot of competition, This stands out as good value.

First of all I would like to explain that I am from The Netherlands, which means that English is not my native language. In advance I would like to apologies for any language and spelling errors in my review. I choose to write my reviews in English so many people can read or translate them to their own language. This place is located on a hill, 3 car minutes from the center of Bodenmais, with a very nice view over Bodenmais. In front of the terrace you will find many different walking trails into the mountains. The food is simple, fresh but above all very tasteful. Because of the type of reviews on Trip advisor we were afraid to visit a large restaurant but we were very happy that we end up in a small local place. On some days there is live music. On the menu there all also different type of vegetarian dishes like the Pilzpfanne (mushrooms, different vegetables and cooked and than baked knudels). I am a meat eater but I can recommend the Pilzpfanne. Great looks, taste and bite!We paid for a Holzschweinesteak with vegetables and baked potatoes, one Pilzpfanne, 0,5 liter Appellimo and 0,5 liter beer only ⬠28,90 (without the tip we gave our waiter off course).
