Historic beergarden in walking distance to the city centre (8 Min.). Typical franconian dishes, a huge variety of franconian beers a lots of space.
Lovely building with an amazing elevated terrace on a green tree-filled hillside. Staff were welcoming and helpful with the beer selection (good beer, by the way). Fantastic pretzels. I was there for a large conference dinner with a buffet so I can't really comment on the menu as we didn't actually order. What we did eat was ok - I am vegetarian and there wasn't a lot of choice on the buffet, but enough (pasta, mainly). But this is a place to go for atmosphere and beer and you won't go hungry whilst enjoying you visit.

A cold , wet summer evening, but the side room was pleasantly warm Faultless service and tableware.Apart from standard local specialities, a very good choice of something different.A lovely beer garden to dine in when the weather is fine!

This easily overlooked cafe, near the Hotel Rheingold, is like visiting someone's home. My companions had schnitzel, and I had roasted goose. They had a fruity local white wine, and I a local beer. The knoedel served with my meal was the lightest I've had. The restaurant has nice desserts, as well. The cook visited our table several times, and the whole atmosphere was very friendly. The food was delicious.

Delicious, typical local dishes, highly efficient service and, above all very good freshly brewed local beer from the adjacent microbrewery. They even sell it to take away. And rather moderate prices. I have been staying here several timesand was never disappointed. Highly recommended, a MUST for everyone who is visiting this town!

Beer from the oldest brewery in the world - 1040. Franconian specialities - crispy goose, dumplings of course, red cabbage, lumps of pork; pifferlinge mushrooms in season; local wines. Also open after the opera; terrace seating available. Slightly mean cheese plate. Friendly service.

What an incredible experience! Uponarriving in the lovely, classical German Town of Bayreuth, the oldest church was having their first Sunday service of the NewYear! Their singing rang through the stone paved streets, and the cold air was warmedwith their spirit! The meal served with such style was perfect! The pumpkin soup was delightful and theCheese Appetizer was a tower of manydifferent A+ selections! The goulashmade from venison was very fresh! The children loved their schnitzel and special potatoes!Traveling with small children often presentsit's challenges; however, this restaurantis very family friendly! From the WC to the dining rooms, the restaurant sparkles withclean, well-appointed rooms!Thank you for starting our New Year out in such a Grand Style!

Kraftraum offers a cool and hip environment with a touch of food on the side. So far - so good, due to the fact that in this respect Kraftraum is no different from various other establishments worldwide - offering a care-free student-like atmosphere with some nice basic dishes, coffee, tea and light alcoholic drinks. You know that when you enter such a place you ought to care more about whether the writings of Voltaire are still relevant today than the size of salad. However, asking somewhere north of â¬8 for not a large breakfast, not including a hot drink with it and serving a mean 0.1L orange juice, does force one's mind off Voltaire and life's vicissitudes and onto more earthly questions, such as - will I ever set foot in here again...? Food for Thought...

This historical restaurant is very cosy with a nice decorations. Service very friendly. We had a vegetarian dish: visually beautiful, fresh and tasty. A cheese plate as well. With a good local wine we enjoyed an excellent evening. The quality/price was a very positive surprise.

We decided to stop at a nice restaurant instead of eating in food courts on the high way and it was such a good decision. The restaurant is easy to access from highway and it offers a great service food and atmosphere. There were 11 of us, kids, vegetarians and meat lovers and everybody was thrilled about the food, adults could enjoy excellent selection of beers. Highly recommended, we will be back!Thank so much Agata! We are looking forward to your next visit!

Traditional Oskar - das Wirtshaus am Markt, is situated in the historic old town hall of Bayreuth. The restaurant accommodates visitors to the town and local clientele who enjoy a hearty feast. Here you will find young Franconian cuisine, cooked and serv
Ate here at lunch and dinner during the Bayreuth Festival. It was busy but not full. Restaurant is a traditional wooden beamed establishment on the high street, 3 mins walk from the Goldener Anker hotel. It was stifling hot inside (lunchtime) and not a fan in sight. Eveningtime was still warm inside. Reception was haphazard but friendly. English is spoken by a few waiters.Best dishes:wiener schnitzel(made with pork not veal), roast pork shoulder with crackling and spare ribs. Everything in large portions by UK/Austrian standards. Reasonable prices for such large portions. Most of the patrons (German) were sitting outside in the evening. Good restaurants are in short supply in the town of Bayreuth, so Oskar's is a helpful standby. Quick word on the town:it is all about Wagner. If not for its connection to Wagner (he lived and composed here). No nice restaurants, no posh shops, no deli...Bayreuth is definitely a very small town, and by the looks of it, has seen better days. The Festival is keeping it going, and the Margrival opera house is beautiful and unique.
