The food was excellent. My wife had a creamed spinach soup, and I had a roebuck deer entree that was outstanding. The local beer was good, and we split an ice cream dish for dessert. Our server was a very friendly and helpful young man that spoke good English.
While travelling in this region, we managed a visit to the Kaktus Bistro, which has been recommended to me by several local people. The Kaktus Bistro is a mix of pub and restaurant. Since the town of Aulendorf has no major tourist attraction, it is almost exclusively visited by local people A famous on-line encyclopedia describes the word âbistroâ as a small restaurant, serving moderately priced, simple meals in a modest setting. And this is exactly what you get here, including the relatively small menu card. In addition to other famous Swabian delicassies they serve the âTarte flambéeâ. In German it is called âFlammkuchenâ. We had Flammkuchen (which is German for: flame cake or cake baked in flames) and the âSalat Kaktusâ that is made from Maultaschen with mushroom crème sauce. The food was very delicious and the price level is very reasonable. The service was very friendly and efficient. If you want to enjoy local food, sit among local people in a small quiet town, this place is the right choice. Kaktus Bistro is located right in the city center of Aulendorf. Parking is available nearby and for free.

Located just in the front of the church which people called the most beautiful village church in the world makes this restaurant easy to found. This is a small town but surprisingly the food here is excellent! They serve German Swabish home style cooking with some seasonable vegetables or mushroom. We stop for lunch after exploring the amazing baroque architecture church. The appetizer was great, Green vegetable salad in mushroom sauce with season Pfifferlingfreling mushroom on the top with grilled bacon. Salty bacon complementing fresh rocket and endive also the fragrance of Pfifferling mushroom makes the dish even better. For the Main dish, we try Rice with Ratatouille it was excellent and good food for vegetarian and vegan, The Knudell with Pfifferling sauce was excellent also. The steak with Pfifferling sauteed in garlic butter was another nice food to choose. Of course Pfifferling is seasonable but with the richness of cooking style here, but I am sure this restaurant is good in any season. The satff is very nice and the service was good as the warm welcome from Baden Wutenberg area.

The menu is nice and something special - you get it in the shape of a newspaper but on better paper. The selection is interesting and I selected soup with pancakes (quite good), Maultaschen gratiniert (very interesting and delicious combination but the cheese grating was a disappointment, a clear misfit), and triplet of chocolate which was nice but nothing special. Service was reasonably fast but not exactly friendly... probably I should have told the chef myself that the cheese on the Maultaschen was completely off!Prices are, considering where you are, OK to a bit expensive

It's a friendly place, obviously popular with locals as well as visitors, and the cooking's excellent. Nadine, who's always smiling, speaks English. The first time I had goulash, described on the menu as "sehr würzig" (= very spicy, which it was), and the second I had stir-fried Chinese vegetables, which were very good too.Very reasonable prices. There's a bowling alley attached. If you'd like a game just ask.

The have a program with different activities throughout the year. There are concerts with local bands performing, theme events like the âIrish eveningâ and live coverages of football world cup matches that the German team participates in.Check out their website for more detailed information (German only). The service was good and so was the food.
