I had to try the restaurant in Zum Golden Oechselen after reading about it in the hotel reviewers' comments. I was going to stay there but walking distance from railway station a little too far with bulky luggage so stayed somewhere closet (in another review!).The restaurant is veru upmarket in fitout, menu quite extensive and relatively high prices to match. But the food is good. I wanted something different to wurst & schnitzel andgot it with a coq au vin but done in Franconian style with Franconian red wine, cabbage & potato dumplings. Huge serve and very tasty. Glad I didn't order an entree & too full for desert. If you want some fine dining in Aschaffenburg you can find it in an unlikely Gastätte. Bon appetit!

We just visited Aschaffenburg today and after a long walk we were looking for a restaurant. We just found this place, we checked it on TripAdvisor so it seemed that everybody was satisfied with this place. This is a very small and typical German restaurant. The staff was very nice and they could speak English as well. We had to wait for our meals a lot but worth it. Even the normal schnitzel was delicious and really really good. We were very satisfied with our meals and definitely we will come back :)

We often end up coming here. You can have really nice conversation with your partner since there is enough space between tables. Interior wise itâs just perfect. Food is as always excellent! Meat is on point at any time - it melts in your mouth - and their pommes à la dauphine... simply magical! Personnel is so friendly and attentive and very accommodating. So no matter if it is for a special or just any occasion, this place continues to offer absolutely fantastic food and service. Such a highlight!

Full of locals which made it a wonderful atmosphere. Fantastic beer and good German food, it's great that they still brew their own beer. Great location for everything.

Friendly and attentive service, superb choice of typical German cuisine in a stylish restaurant in a beautiful location-what more could you ask for? Spring, Summer and Fall there are many outdoor tables from the main restaurant itself as well the adjacent rustic typical beer-garden restaurant. Excellent selection of fine wine and beer, as well as non-alcoholic beverages for the entire family.

I was expecting to eat in my hotel in Aschaffenberg but the hotel restaurant was closed. The hotel booked me into Weinstube Kitz. It was wonderful. The starter of Parmesan soup was remarkably good; the main course of Zander was outstanding - sauce, black pudding and pear combined to make a wonderful plate. The dessert of chocolate mousse and caramel ice cream was equally good. And all this excellence for â¬40 including a large glass of wine and water. I would have been happy had I been asked to pay more. The restaurant is relaxed and informal but with excellent service. I cannot fault he experience.By the way if you are flying out of Frankfurt Airport and you do not want an airport or city centre hotel, Aschaffenberg is a great alternative. 30 mins on the ICE straight to the terminals. I will make sure I fly from Frankfurt in future just to come back to Weinstube Witz.

Came here with friends for lunch in a Saturday afternoon. We chose this restaurant because it was conveniently located near Schloss Johannisburg. The restaurant was packed when we arrived but we were lucky to find a table outside. I've learned that things just take a little bit longer in Germany. We waited about an hour for our food to come but the service was good and we were able to stay as long as we liked.I ordered the Wiener schnitzel with pommes frites which was just okay. Not the best I've had in Germany, but I was so hungry that it was satisfying! Dessert on the other hand is another story...BEST Apple strudel EVER!!!

Very close to the castle you will find this wonderful restaurant. There they will present you typical Franconia food beside that you will find offerings on the menu if you want something special with seasonal ingredients e.g. dishes with asparagus. We had a wonderful lunch outside in the courtyard. All food is well presented and very tasty. The service is very attentive and helpful. The restaurant has a rustic vaulted cellar. I can recommend this place.

Sehr gut. Nette Bedienung. Reichliches Buffet und wurde schnell nachgefüllt. Eier wurden frisch zubereitet nicht schon ewig fertig. Gerne wieder. Sehr zu empfehlen.
