Visited with a small group of work colleagues. We enjoyed the food very much; portions were quite large and we split a few dishes, which was great. The service was quite good also. The beer is brewed at a monastery in this part of Germany and I'm told this restaurant is one of the few places where it's available. It was dark with full flavor and fairly high alcohol content. Overall a great dining experience - try the spaetzle!

Need a break from wurst or schnitzel? Try this place. We stopped by for a late lunch and while not shown a menu, we ordered each a 1/2 grillhendl (rotisserie chicken) and fries. Drink was tap water (tafelwasser) which cost 2.5 euros each. Total for lunch was 23.2 euro. No one does rotisserie chicken as the German's do and this place does grilling justice. Nice crispy skin, moist meat. Right on the plaza. A little bit confusing as the signage outside doesn't match inside. There's a takeout area where you see the chickens grilling but to sit down you go into the restaurant and find a table. They also have a buffet though we didn't try it.

Nice Bavarian restaurant in the centre of Allotting. Staff were friendly, and coped with my poor standard of German. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Good local beers and very good food.

Staying in this friendly, old fashioned hotel in a charming Bavarian backwater was such a pleasant experience (the ubiquitously useless WiFi excluded) I decided to try its equally old-school restaurant. How glad I was that I did. From my experience at both lunch and dinner, this place is worth actively seeking out if you're in this quiet attractive region. A charming man with splendid moustaches looked after my table both times. For lunch he brought me an indulgent venison goulash, rich with flavours, the meat juicy and tender (so easy to present venison dry in a stew). An excellent dumpling went with it and a nice bowl of sweet red cabbage. The highlight was dinner, though. I love Zander, the fish described in the UK as a pike-perch but so seldom found on UK menus. It's a German staple though, albeit a premium one. Here came a good thick fillet of this freshwater predator, atop a helping of tender white cabbage interestingly cooked and dressed in a sharp cream sauce. Zander itself has a surprisingly delicate flavour it's easy to mar, but not here. This was a triumph. Crispy skin, and succulent flesh yielding masses of that subtle, evanescent, thought-provoking flavour. Utterly glorious. The best Zander I have ever eaten. And it's not hideously over priced, either.Top marks to the kitchen -- and to the friendly waiter.

Food is a little joie de vivre. In everyday life we ââsometimes pay too little attention to this aspect. But who does not know the beautiful moments of enjoyment! Debating with friends, laughing at a rich set table, the midnight supper at a rendezvous wit
Freundliches und sehr aufmerksames Personal. Auswahl der Speisen im üblichen Rahmen. Essensportionen ausreichend.

Servizio molto veloce e personale gentile. Qui per la prima volta ho assaggiato i wollwurste, buonissimi.

My buddy and I sampled a Graminger dunkel weiss on the main Altotting platz and were impressed by the full flavor, great taste and finish. We knew our upcoming visit to the brew pub/bier garden held promise. It exceeded all expectations! We sampled a wide variety of Bavarian foods and my buddy and I selected the three .3L samplers. The beers ranged from Pils to bock and all were superb! Staff were attentive and helpful as we struggled with our broken German. Taxi was 7 euros each way from Altotting altstadt or Hbf. We arragned for pick-up during our dropoff and our ride was promptly on-time.

The "Zwiebelrostbraten" (steak with fried onions) was so tender I could have cut it with a fork, and it was seasoned to perfection. In general it's harder to find a great steak in Germany since they typically don't age their beef as long as it's aged in the US, but this steak was as good as anything I've ever eaten anywhere. The salad bar wasn't bad and certainly made the meal an excellent value. There were 7 of us, and everyone enjoyed their meals very much. The owner was very charming when he came by to check if everything was alright. We'll definitely be going back, and I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area!

I really wanted to love this place - an unassuming and simple looking restaurant in the middle of nowhere with a Michelin star.. but did not live up to expectations. I could not fault the presentation of each of the courses but the biggest failure was in the construction of each plate. There was usually a lot of things happening on each plate - flavored foams, homemade ice creams, three different sauces and although the cooking techniques displayed were top notch, the flavors did not always match. It was also apparent that there was no trained sommelier as the wines did not match perfectly either and did nothing for the each of the courses. Another, in my opinion large failure was the service - although the waiter was very pleasant and polite, handing me my cutlery because he wouldn't walk around the table is a very big no-no. Not changing the wine glasses when changing to different wine is also a very big no-no. We took the complete 10 course degustation with matching wines for 128euros - I can only count two courses which I thought of high enough standard to deserve it's reputation. In short, there are many other non-starred restaurants which are far superior to huberwirt and better value for money. Not recommended.
