I had dinner in this restaurant during my stay in Altenahr in August 2015. The food was nice without being spectacular. The service was similarly good without being brilliant. My overall feeling for this place was that it's an average restaurant that could do a little better on the quality of the food and the service.I ate elsewhere on my second night and had a much better experience (see my other review of that place).

We came here after finishing a hike in the area, when we were looking for a place to sit and have a drink. The place is right across from the train station, which makes it very accessible. The staff was super-friendly, and when we asked if it would be possible for us to sit outside, it took them less than 5 minutes to arrange tables and chairs in the terrace, which was otherwise closed due to winter season. They had no problem to have it open just for us and serve us outside even while it was full inside. The food itself was very good. The fish was very fresh and perfectly made, and schnitzels were served in big portions with 2 side dishes. The place is a bit pricey, but that is to be expected in such a touristic town. Compared to other businesses around it was not expensive.

During an "off site" business meeting my international colleagues and I were treated to a very special gourmet evening at this wonderfully atmospheric restaurant We walked down from the nearby hotel with the same name and were soon seated at one large table on the ground floor in what I understand is the Weinkirche ("Wine church"). We were immediately attended to by a small army of waiters and waitresses whose sole preoccupation was to make our evening a very special one indeed. Having ordered some excellent local Sekt to get us into the spirit of things we then set about trying to understand the menus â the food was rather spectacularly described in flowing German. What I liked was the way that the main waitress who looked after us ensured that each dish that was brought out was expressively described in very good English.I didn't make a note of the menu which was taken away from us after we had ordered. I went for their "standard" set menu which was wonderful. Whilst I don't recall each course I can only confirm that this was a very special culinary experience in a wondrously atmospheric setting. For that special celebration this is certainly the place to come.

I went here for a nights entertainment. It is very friendly, has lovely table service and the entertainment was good. It was a lady and man singing with keyboard and guitar but the beat they provided was good and got people up to dance. I loved watching a couple doing a dance that was very quirky, bouncy with a touch of romance include when they were in hold. They certainly new the words and dance steps and I could have watched them all night. The hotel had mirrored walls which added a sparkly feel and doubled the decorations and Christmas trees. All in all a lovely place to make a change from your hotel.

We had a very nice and tasty dinner at Bahnsteig 1 with a very friendly and hospitable waitor!!The Peppersteak was cooked to perfection with home made pepper sauce. Also the dessert was perfect. An honest and very tasty dinner for an honest price. When you are in the area we recommend this place 100%!!Greetings from Holland.

A cozy roadside café/restaurant offering a range of typical German dishes such as schnitzel, waldhof steak and wonderful cakes! Only some of the staff speaks English, but it doesnât really matter as they are all very friendly and helpful and do their best to accommodate your wishes. If you stop by here to eat- please leave room to sample one or two of their wonderful cakes. They have (depending on the day and busyness) between 8 and 16 cakes to choose from, all baked in house as I understood our waiter, and really yummy! 10/10 for taste and selection! Definately comig back!

Service by the lady owner was sweet, unhurried and personal but we were the only guests. We opted for the 3-course asperagus menu. Some strange combinations we did not understand;- the soup was great, but was accompanied by a giant shrimp;- the main course was very tasty but contained very little (good) asperagus, which appeared to be severey overcooked, and was heavily overshadowed by a very nice but strong meat sauce.- the wine was very nice, and local, from carafs. When we left we felt that price and quality were misalligned, we felt that dinner was not worth the E108

AtmosphereNice sunny terrace. The road is close but didn't bother us.FoodJust lovely. Gazpazio soup was so good, I wanted to order a second portion. They had several portions with fresh chanterelle, we chose the crepe with chanterelle. And the snails in red wine were good too. Everything was very fresh and home made. Also they had a very interesting list with moose etc.PriceNot expensive, soup maybe 5 EUR? Crepe maybe 10? (don't remember anymore, but general feeling was that not expensive)ServiceFriendly, cozyDrinksLovely German wines from the area.Would I recommend?Yes, absolutely. It is German food (not my favourite...) but very fresh, authentic, and yet stylish. I will return for sure.

Very good restaurant serving regional dishes. I started with a salad which was not only nicely decorated, but also provided a variety of tasty and fresh greens. The main dish was deer stew, very tender in a delicious sauce served with red cabbage and potato dumplings. The service was friendly and accommodating, even as we were the last guests to come in for dinner.Decent selection of wines by the glass, although not as good as elsewhere. All dishes are reasonably priced.
