The majestic Austrian Alps stretch across the country, an awe-striking area of Ice Age valleys, verdant heaths and alluvial cones within Europe's largest national park, 700-square-mile Hohe Tauern. Taking in the dramatic cities of Salzburg and Innsbruck and the beautiful province of Tirol, home to spectacular skiing and hiking, as well as Gross Glockner, Austria's highest peak, and some of the world's best winter and summer sports playgrounds, the Austrian Alps are an outdoor lover's paradise.

Good fun for a hour. They have COVID-19 messures and there is a one way route. The route is great with a good view to experience the ‘klamm’ and the storming water. The entree fee is low and there is a parking nearby.

The Lammerklamm Gorge is must see/do if you are an outdoors person. We had the pleasure of vacationing in Salzburg, Austria this year and made explicit plans to visit this site before we arrived. While the views and scenery are astounding be advised that the pathway (if you take the full hour pathway) is narrow along the gorge and involves lots of ups and down and so you MUST wear good gripping shoes or hiking boots - I also recommend hiking sticks if you have them as it will save your legs and back! The views up and down the gorge as you walk along are just amazing and to hear the rushing water is very soothing. We were there right when it opened so there were only a couple of other people so there was not a lot of ambient noise to drown out the sound of the water which made it even better. It was well worth the trip to visit this famous site and I highly recommend it to my fellow travelers who are visiting this region of Austria.

Amazing place to have a longer hiking. If you need some advanture it is a perfect place. The trip is 4,5 km long devided for 4 parts, with more then 500m elevation change. Takes about 3 hours one way over 9 bridges. You can turn back anytime if it gets difficult for you. Good shoes are highly recomended!

The coldest warm welcome in Mayerhofen! You MUST visit here! You’ll be greeted by staff called Wally and Dominic. They are two of the nicest people I have ever met! Friendly and chatty and both speak better queens English than me and I’m from Liverpool! Lovely people. Dominic is your tour guide. He is such a nice guy! The glacier tour lasts for approximately an hour. You walk inside the glacier through carved out tunnels, most are man made but some are natural! You climb up and down safety ladders until you reach a depth of over 60 metres. Wear your ski kit including ski boots if you wish! I did. The glacier itself dates back to thousands of years of frozen history with stalactites and stalagmites formed in ice! It’s amazing! The main entrance is approximately a five minute walk across and down a piste. The whole experience does require the individual to be reasonably fit. €21 is the total cost and totally worth it! Thank you Dominic, you made our visit unforgettable and Wally, we will see you in summer when your tour is extended to allow you to swim, boat and kayak inside the glacier. There is a world record attempt planned there in June when a free diver will attempt to dive an extra 50 metres towards the bedrock. All in all, I’ll never forget this experience and I’m confident that you won’t forget it either!
