I rented a kayak from them for a week visit in early October. Sean answered my questions ahead of time, and gave us lots of good info about paddling around the area we stayed and being safe in the water at that time of year. The kids had a great time exploring nearby coves. The kayak was ready when we arrived, and getting it picked up was no problem. I would definitely rent from them again!

The Activity Shop has made it easy to explore the beautiful waterways of the Blue Hill peninsula and Deer Isle for over 20 years. We rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards (SUP), and bicycles. Founded in 1996, Chris and Amy are the third owners and proud to carry on the legacy of great customer service and creating family memories on the coast of Maine. The team was amazing! Cosmos hooked up my friends and family with exactly what we needed at the last minute. The equipment suggested worked perfectly and made for a very enjoyable long weekend. Very reasonably priced and the fact they deliver and pickup is an added bonus. Thanks again to the Team at the Activity Shop. Also the suggestion of going to Perry’s Lobster Shack was fantastic!

The Isle au Haut Boat Service is coping admirably with the COVID-19 situation, and all staffers are doing their utmost to keep both the passengers and island communities (x2) safe and connected. Deer Isle and Isle au Haut are relatively remote locations, at a remove from advanced medical facilities, so it's important that passengers and crew take precisely the precautions that the boat service has fully put into place, in compliance with regulations put forth by the Maine CDC. It's not really a burden for passengers to wear masks and to distance themselves; the crew does a LOT of cleaning. We rode the larger boat, the Otter, which is relatively new and very well-run. They've put a great deal of effort into making the schedule work, and we had complete confidence in seeing Isle au Haut--but not staying--for the first time. Maybe longer, next time!

First, Bar Harbor Bikes is very busy and you should reserve a bike ahead of time, if possible. The morning we went to pick up our reserved E-Bikes, there was a line of approximately 20 people waiting to rent a bike. Secondly, do not wear sandals We saw quite a few people on the carriage trails struggling to pedal on the hills. Ok, My wife and I received Great service and very knowledgeable employees made this a very fun day in Acadia National Park. They provided a map of the carriage trails and off we went to some incredible sights. Because we had E-Bikes, the peddling up the hill were a breeze. We spent 5 1/2 hours on the Carriage Trails and we rode 34 of the 45 or so miles, with no issues. We highly recommend the E-Bikes to see as much of the Carriage Trails as possible. Enjoy the photos and hopefully it will make you want to ride the Carriage Trail

On a recent trip to Mount Desert Island, we rented bikes from Southwest Cycle in Southwest Harbor. We could not have been more pleased. The employees were extremely helpful, were very generous in our pick up and drop off times, and made sure we were comfortable on our bikes. We looked at bike shops in Bar Harbor, but were so glad we chose Southwest Cycle. We will definitely rent from them again on our next trip to Mount Desert Island!
