A wonderful spot to stretch your legs on the drive to the Coorong. The volunteers have done a wonderful job over 30 years planting native species like Hakea, grevillea, melaleuca, kangaroo paw, gum trees, native grasses etc.

This is a lovely memorial. So many were killed in those wars. These are the wars that the citizens of Victor Harbor went to war: Battle of Long Tan, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Malayan Emergency, Vietnam War and South Africa Boer War. They have a tall white cross that is name the Long Tan Cross. There were roses and trees. I liked that it was close to the beach and ocean. I was quite impressed. Worthwhile to see!

Relax in the shade or enjoy a coffee among some of Australia's finest plant collections.
If you work your way down North Terrace, east you will come to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. this is a quiet and beautiful oasis in the city and borders on botanic Park and the Zoo. It makes for a great day out for families all within about a 5 minute walk of the city center. It houses an original Victorian glass house with a famous Amazon lily, big lawned areas, water lily ponds and lovely mature trees dating from the 1850's ( Adelaide was settled by private charter in 1836). The botanic gardens then exit onto botanic park at the northern boundary. Botanic park is a large grassed park with lovely big shade trees and is popular with locals for picnics. A short walk across the park and you can visit the very good Adelaide Zoo to see lots of native animals as well as all the usual suspect. A great day for a family if visiting Adelaide.

Six of us, including SA locals, interstate and overseas friends visited The Cedars where we took a self guided tour of the Han's Heysen Studio, a walk on the property (Artists Walk) and down to the green pool, followed by joining the guided tour of the House and self guided tour of the Nora Heysen Studio. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the volunteer staff and guides were helpful and informative. One of our overseas guests even commented that she enjoyed it as much as visiting Monet's House and Garden in Giverny! The garden surrounding the house was lovely with many old fashioned plants and flowers and lawned areas, and the Artist's Walk took in magnificent gum trees on the bushland property.

The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden was established in 1993 to research, conserve and promote the wider appreciation of Australia’s arid zone flora. Located on the shores of Upper Spencer Gulf with spectacular views to the ancient Flinders Ranges, the Garden showcases a diverse collection of arid zone habitats in a picturesque setting of more than 250 hectares. As well as its stunning selection of arid zone plants, the garden is also home to more than 100 species of birds, and has a diverse population of repltiles, mammals and insects. It features a children's animal discovery trail, AridSmart display gardens where you can see how to use the plants in you home garden, and a visitor centre, which incorporates the Bluebush Cafe and the AridSmart Gift and Garden Shop. The cafe has mouthwatering menu choices and you can't go past the Quandong Smoothies. The AridSmart Gift and Garden Shop is where you can purchase a piece of the garden to take home. Its range of AridSmart plants will not only reduce your water bills but will bring the beauty of Australia's plants into your garden.
Arid Lands is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit. Many walks, wildlife and birds. There is a fantastic natural playground for children which is fenced and has a covered, seated area. The cafe is great with coffee, cake and light meals. Great gifts in the gift shop and my favourite - the plant shop. Native plants grown for this climate. So much to see and do.

South Australia's first boutique distillery, Australia's oldest dedicated Gin distillery, Kangaroo Island Spirits is producing award winning Gin, Liqueuers, Vodka and more recently Whisky utilising local and native ingredients. Most recently releasing a single origin Gin called Koala48. The cellar door offers free tastings with extensive information about the product and processes in a rustic but personal setting. Enjoy great coffee, a cocktail and delicious food options from Mini Delights in our Gin Garden. Options for group bookings, gin platters and Gin Blending classes exist through the website.
Gin & non-gin drinkers of the group were all equally happy here. A lovely setting in the garden, very good (and world-class award winning) gin flights, cocktails, liquor tastings available. A small selection of good food available. We were given ample information about the tastings as well.

My wife and I visit this lovely garden on a Saturday afternoon. We have always found street parking along South Terrace, and access to the garden is level and easy. Entry is free. This walled garden is such a delight. It is a place to spend time, to enjoy, to contemplate. The well made paths wind amongst the cared-for gardens, and always there is the sound of water. In one part a sheltered seat looks out over raked gravel: a sea with islands. Our impression is that this is a garden which is loved and looked after. Definitely worth repeated visits.
