Getting its name from the medieval Duchy of Limburg (now split among Holland, Belgium and Germany and the birthplace of the infamously pungent Limburger cheese), Limburg is the Netherlands’ southernmost region. Many of the area’s best attractions are concentrated in the capital of Maastricht, but other sights include the 12th-century Valkenburg castle ruins, the 17th-century Eijsden castle, the 20th-century Glaspaleis (built next to a medieval church at Heerlen), and De Meinweg National Park.

Kasteeltuinen has vast, beautiful gardens to explore. There are rose gardens, tropical gardens, Japanese gardens, bamboo, Italian and the list goes on. All are delicately manicured and well kept. There is a huge crazy golf course that is included in the entrance fee. Lots of lakes and waterfalls too. We stayed about 3 hours and didn't see everything because the site is massive. We visited the house too. The interior was disappointing. We also fed some goats, chickens and Koi Carp. This is a place to visit on a dry day as 90 percent is outside. Kids go free in July and August, which is always a bonus! You can get cheaper tickets sometimes on Social Deal or the ANWB members' site. I plan to return to see the parts that I did not get to see.

U kunt de tuin met toprozen en het informatie kenniscentrum bezoeken. Daarnaast kunt u koffie/thee of fris drinken met een lekker rozengebakje.

We visited for a family reunion party. The setup was excellent, the staff is super friendly and would happily explain the statues and herbs / spices garden. All of these herbs and spices are also freshly used in the kitchen. The place has both inside dining with an open kitchen, a terrace but also an outside grill / barbeque "shack" that offers fresh food and drinks in the summer. From the terraces you can see the garden, statues and caves in the rock across the building. The food was absolutely superb, and the staff gave us the time and room to even use a projector for a sort of family game. The location is clean and quite and really makes you feel at home right away!

The place is ideal for families with young children as it caters a zoo, fun park, gardens, and some unlimited food and drinks are included in the entrance fee. We went there for a relaxing day to see animals and gardens and were not disappointed!
