Enjoy 65 acres of year-round floral pageantry in a Southern estate garden with blooms and beauties every day of the year. It is our passion at Bellingrath Gardens and Home to preserve and enhance the 65-acre garden and grand estate home of Walter and Bessie Bellingrath.
I spent several formative years in Mobile, so Bellingrath's was not new to me. I hadn't been there in over a decade, so I'm pleased to report that it's still a delight, particularly when you have perfect springtime weather and a lazy Sunday afternoon. When you purchase your ticket, you'll get a map of the gardens as well as an insert that lists what's currently in bloom. It's worth it to add the home tour to your ticket if you love antiques and/or ceramics, silver, and china (although many ceramics are also available for viewing in what used to be the carriage house, which does not require a separate admission price from that of the gardens). If you're traveling in the area around the winter holidays, consider going for the Magic Christmas in Lights--the last time I went (granted, over a decade ago), it was truly magical.

The 112-acre Huntsville Botanical Garden is open year-round and contains a diverse ecosystem of meadows, upland and bottomland forest, and wetlands, as well as a variety of specialty gardens and native plant collections. The Mathews Nature Trail contains the largest accredited trillium collection in the U.S. and the Anderson Education Center is home to the nation’s largest open-air butterfly house. The Native Plants Teaching Garden is a public space that highlights the way local plants, soil, pollinators, and birds create distinct communities and how they interact to form a diverse, sustainable, and attractive landscape. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Garden is a member of the American Public Gardens Association, the North American Plant Collections Consortium, and the American Horticultural Society, as well as an ArbNet-accredited arboretum.

We had time to kill and decided to stop by here and still talk about how great it was! So many flowers and plants etc They must have at least 30 different types of roses here which blew my mind because i thought they were just red or white... Try and look for all the hidden sculptures in all the different areas, some stand out easier than others !

Enjoy the beautiful gardens as you take an easy hike around the lake. Also there is a Veteran's Memorial and sculpture in the gardens. Go inside the house to see art collections that change periodically and Frank Fleming sculptures.

If you're an Auburn student you know how valuable the Donald E. Davis Arboretum is to the university and community. Although the primary objective is a living breathing outdoor museum, it is also a university classroom. I will focus on what the Davis Arboretum is best known for, The Founders Oak. I was fascinated by my visit. The native Southern trees and plants is the real gem of the arboretum. The crown jewel would be the "Founders Oak". The tree symbolizes the strong foundation and a deeply rooted history. The tree measures 88 feet tall by 47 inches wide. It's expected to see the start of the next century. The Oak serves as a symbol of the City of Auburn in history and spirit. There is much, more to the 13.6 acre arboretum that you will love to explore. They also rent out their space on the cheap for weddings. I encourage a visit.

This was two hours of heaven walking the shaded trails, enjoying the sights and varieties of so many plants with a real emphasis on rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias. Most of these were not in bloom, but still delightful. There were a few sculptures, antique columns and a koi pond to add to the variety. The staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. Even the gift shop was unique and featured items by local artists.
