The Secret Garden is set in the open to the skies hidden ruin of the adjacent building to the Emerson Spice Hotel. Serves a lighter seafood menu at lunch, and a more varied menu at night, both à la carte. Closed for dinner Wednesdays. The adjacent lounge
While the famous rooftop restaurant Emerson Spice usually is fully booked and has to be reserved well in advance (incl. deposit of 10$ each), we were told to try the Secret Garden Restaurant on the ground floor of the same house. What a fantastic suggestion! This restaurant is amid a ruin, decorated with healthy plants and lit by romantic candle light. We had most delicious dinner there twice, tried all the first courses on the rather limited menu and the seafood linguine as main course which were just super tasty. And: try the Spicy Gin Tonic with passion fruit and chilly â no, it's not too hot, just tingling!
Funky restaurant serving affordable delicious food designed to spoil your taste buds made with love by our top Chefs right in the heart of Stone Town.
I stumbled upon Funky Monkey by chance walking through the alley ways. Itâs a restaurant underneath the popular Zlife Hostel, so its the perfect place for travelers to meet fellow mates!I was there for the afternoon and itâs quite a chill vibe away from the hustle and bustle streets, which I felt very comfortable working with my laptop. The hosts Peter and Tiffany were super friendly and awesome people to talk to. They told me about the âall-you-can-eatâ pizza night which is held from time to time at super affordable prices (if I remember correct itâs near $7). Not forget to mention the mango-passion shake I had is super yummy, all natural and well portioned! They are also environmental friendly as they serve their drinks with paper straws.Highly recommend people to visit them!

The inspiration for our menu was the zanzibarian kitchen - an unusual blend of African, Arab and Indian tastes, based on fresh local ingredients (spices, fish, octopus, fruits). Local recipes combined with the European way of serving. Our menu includes ve
We entered the resort as guests for the Swahili dinner which is served on Sunday nights. A good value at $20 per adult and $10 per child - the buffet starts with urojo , a traditional soup followed by a range of specialties - octopus curry, red beans, flavored rice, white beans, fried cassava and potato, as well as a grilled fish. Also comes with a dessert- which was fried dough with a cardamom and cinnamon sauce. Drinks are reasonable as well with a choice of wines by glass, beers and cocktails. Service is very friendly and you are made to feel very welcome. Dear Guest,Thank you for your opinion. We are glad to know you enjoyed our food. Now, beside the Swahili buffet on every Sunday, we have a BBQ dinner every Wednesday with a wide range of grilled meat and seafood, such as tuna, kingfish, shrimps, squid.Marafiki Restaurant has also extended its menu by adding sushi.Looking forward to see you again!

Ordered waffle and tea for breakfast... it took almost 25 minutes for the food to be served....although was initially told it will take 10 minutes.waffles are very tasty though!!!masala Tea @ 5000/- is very expensive though compared to other restaurants/cafe around.Thank for taking the time for leaving us a detailed review of our place.Happy to know you enjoyed our freshly prepared waffles, hence sometimes it does take more than the usual 10 mins for the first waffle of the day. Apologies for that.As for the teapot price range we all do differ somehow in various items of specialities. We look forward to serve you again in the near future and exceed your expectations.RegardsShabnam

Dining at the Beyt Al Salaam rvoutique hotel is to experience Zanzibar. The restaurant is unobtrusively located on the ground floor, away from the rooms. Since its opening it is considered the finest dining establishment within Zanzibar's Stone Town.

Many thanks Williamg216 for your nice review and appreciation of our Beyt al Salaam restaurant service and food quality. I loved this restaurant! When I travel I try to eat at different restaurants as much as possible, but we ate at 6 Degrees South almost every night during our 5-day, 4-night stay. The first night in Zanzibar we went to this restaurant and absolutely loved it! The food was great and it has a great view of the ocean. The waitstaff are also extremely friendly and accommodating. They made sure we enjoyed the food and weâre having a good time. We often tried other restaurants during lunch, but never liked the food as much as this place so we always returned for dinner. If you eat here you will not be disappointed! Hi, thank you for the awesome review and 5 stars! We're so pleased you had a great time with us, and that we were able to welcome you to our restaurant during your entire stay! Thank you for recommending us - we hope to welcome you back to 6 Degrees South very soon!Kind Regards,Sabeeha

This place gave us the best service we received in Stone Town believe we went there 4 times and 8 there 3. Has great views over the ocean and a good place to be at sunset which we were a couple of times. In our visits we had Snapper and Crab ceviche, Seafood Pizza and finally the seafood platter which was not overcooked as a lot of seafood in ZZ tends to be. As mentioned service was outstanding and delivery of meals etc was well paced become on if not our favorite place in Stone Town.Dear Shane B, Thank you for your words of appreciation towards our ambience, service and food. I will pass this on to our Beach House Family. It was a pleasure hosting you. Chef Popi will be delighted to hear about his food and multicultural menu and will share this with his team. Karibu Tena and welcome again to The Beach House Zanzibar where we may take you through a multicultural experience. Kind Regards, Afshan, Beach House Manager

The Emerson Spice Rooftop Tea House Restaurant serves a set Seafood based, five course 'Taste Safari' Degustation Menu prepared daily by our Zanzibari Chefs. The Sunset Hour is an integral part of the experience, so Diners are encouraged to arrive at any
The climb up to the restaurant was over 4 flights of stairsIt was a unique experience Roof top dining With traditional music Food was average to goodVery limited menuGo for the experienceThank you for reviewing us here - and for pointing out the four flights of stairs, one is certainly worth ones calories reaching the tea house! Both the Emerson hotels are located in heritage buildings within the UNESCO listed Stone Town, so elevators are off limits for us. Mentioning the traditional music, We believe you are referring to our sister hotel Emerson on Hurumzi though, most nights musicians from the Show Countries Music Academy perform traditional Tara music in the tea house restaurant, accompanying a set menu designed to marry the culture and style of the building with the distinct culinary heritage of the era.

Roof top restaurant overlooking the old city of Stone Town and the indian ocean. The Taarab, offers scrumptious breakfasts by day and transforms into a romantic, atmospheric a la carte restaurant by sun-down offering outside terrace and indoor sittings.
Let me start off saying I love food. Anywhere I go I search and want to ensure I have the best meals. I came across Taarab and decided I wanted to bring my family of 8 here. Being from the USA, you have to temper expectations when you visit countries like Zanzibar. Essentially it was a bad experience from the start. We waited 20 minutes to get our water - we were the only customers in at 3pm on a Wednesday. Then our bread came out cold, and we had to send it back. After about an hour, our food came out from the kitchen, we ordered everything, from appetizers to their famous seafood platter ($70USD). EVERYTHING was terrible. I called out the chef, and I made him hold our appetizer, it was a fried lobster roll, I explained to him how is something cold when itâs fried? I then made him hold a fry, same thing. The chef was pretty baffled. He offered to bring us food, but letâs be honest here, we all know he wouldâve gone and thrown it in the microwave. I had a really really bad experience here, I walked up and left the restaurant angrily after giving them a piece of my mind. I didnât pay for anything because nothing was eaten. I spoke to the Hilton staff downstairs before I left, but I hope you have a better experience than I did. I really wish I wouldâve just gone to Emerson, but hey you win some and lose some!Dear Anil L,So sorry to read about your disappointment. We appreciate both positive and negative comments as it help us improve our guest experience. We are sorry you did not fall into the very satisfied guests and we apologize for the shortfall in the service and we are so sorry to learn that the experience did not live up to your expectations.Just to let you know, The fried lobster roll is part of the cold salad section and it is served cold. However our Deputy General Manager did talk to you and agreed to offer you and invite you for dinner also but as you mentioned you were angry and just walked away.Cuisine not being an exact science it can happen that one can have a less exciting experience than others. What you might have heard regarding our Roof top Taarab restaurant is that we have a huge a la carte menu and that our cuisine is delicious as this is what 99% of our customers are reporting. We are however keen to reach everybody's satisfaction therefore if passing by our restaurant again please allow us to give it an other try, knowing your expectations, we shall be happy to a special exercise for you.Culinary yours,Chef Shafeek
