We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel host. The restaurant is set out of the village in a very pleasant area. The weather was good as so all the guests had tables outside in the garden. The menu is small but the quality of food that we ate was superb. Quality dining - dont expect chicken and chips here! Service was excellent. Prices are about right for the quality for the food. Well worth a visit - book in advance.

Having spotted this place at lunch time we cycled back, in the evening from Villandry, to eat here. We both had the set meal for 17 Euros, it was excellent. We had a choice of about 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 puds.I had Pate, Steak - Frites and Chocolate Mouse. My wife had Smoked Fish Salad, Steak-Frites and Creme BruleeEvery dish was excellent and the service was good.A 500ml carafe of decent house wine cost less than one small glass of wine in the hotels we were staying in!

Bar Restaurant within the Auberge Le Colombien
Needed lunch after a trip to the must see chateau and so walked to this roadside cafe/bistro and sat in the sun/shade and waited...and waited...and waited. Eventually order was taken and the food - croque monsieur and omelette arrived which was very pleasant. Perhaps there are too many hungry tourists and they don' have to try too hard. Shame.

Located in the heart of the small village of Villandry l'Epicerie Gourmande is both a Wine bar (mostly regional and natural wine) a restaurant and a tea room. Here you will also find regional products to take away and advices concerning your trip in Loire
Went here after visiting Villandray chateau. Having visited in previous years we thought we could get a simple tasty lunch. The waitress gave us menus and a while later returned for our orders. We had galettes with a glass of cider followed by coffee. The first two galettes came within a few minutes, the second a while later and the fourth a good 5 minutes after the first. Quite why they couldn't be served at least in twos and preferably all together I don't know! The cider was nice, the galettes quite bland and service poor. Indeed a member of staff came out with her meal and one for the waitress while we were preparing to leave, who hung around waiting for us to leave so she could sit and eat, nothing like making the customers welcome.Such a shame this place has got so much worse.

Food was absolutely beautiful, Iâve never had such a wonderful selection of leaves in a salad; outstanding! But, having had a lovely meal I was astounded to be told that the credit card machine was not working & that there was often a problem with it. It was so embarrassing as we scrambled around trying to find enough euros to pay the bill. If they knew it was problem then they should have told us before we placed an order. We are now left without any cash & having to make a detour to a bank tomorrow! Not impressed with what would have otherwise been a lovely meal.

This restaurant epitomises the best of French food. From the raked gravel, at the entrance, to the desert, we couldn't find a fault. Excellent service, good menu and wine list and all at a very reasonable prices. This is not a pretentious restaurant but is well runwith a great chef and very pleasant professional staff. It appeared sold out with locals so that tells a lot

We came here for lunch. No reservation, but there was space, and the restaurant graciously seated us (which doesnât happen at all places in France). The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. The wine and champagne were excellent too. We miss this place! Would love to go back!
