Restaurant ouvert du jeudi au dimanche soir, service restauration de 20 à 1h et bar jusqu'à 2h. Ouvert également le dimanche midi, service de 12h à 14h. Repas de groupe sur réservations.
Knowing how good this restaurant is, we went yet again and took friends with us. The service was, as usual, excellent. The food is well presented and good and there's always more than enough to feed the hungriest person. The starters are a meals in themselves, I chose the 'petit' salad landaise and got a mountain of food! Delicious. I have tried all offered on the menu over a period of time, and have never been disappointed with the quality. (or quantity!)This is a small restaurant, (good idea to make a reservation) with basic but pleasant seating, outside is also a great place to eat in those summer evenings.Overall? try it, you won't be disappointed.

We offer throughout the year a selection of fresh seasonal produce, all prepared and cooked in our kitchen. Our products are largely provided by local producers and suppliers. In addition to the menus and the carte, we suggest a daily menu with a "Plat du
We recently visited the St. Genis on a Sunday lunchtime with a French friend, who was firstly very impressed with our greeting by the owner who remembered us from previous visits. The food as always was excellent and the service very good. Our French friend chose the buffet for a starter and came back with a plate of grated carrot!! He said this was all he wanted and enjoyed it very much. I had the escargot which were delicious and my husband chose the tartare of courgettes that came with a beautiful Scotch egg. For main course the men opted for the hake with rice and vegetables, and I had a roast duck leg with slices of roast potato and vegetables. For dessert both my husband and I had the Apricot Tiramisu and our friend had the creme brûlée. A very enjoyable meal all round.

Our village has been lucky to have an excellent restaurant to serve it for many years but when Patrick and Sandrine decided to move on, everyone was concerned about who would follow them.Alexandre and Karine have not let us down. Despite changing the name from l'Orchidée to Les Copains d'Abord and slightly adjusting the offering, the restaurant remains in good hands. We have now used it several times and recommended it to friends and visitors and everyone has been pleased with the simply yet succulent food that comes from the kitchen. It is not easy to run a restaurant with just two people so you will often find Alexandre serving the main courses, ensuring they get to the table straight from his ovens. With fixed price menus at both lunchtime and evening the choice is small but generally meets most tastes. I have never found a menu that I could not choose something from. This limitation only means the chef is able to concentrate properly on his chosen dishes for the day and is a part of their successful offering.I look forward to using it many times over the coming years and if you get the chance, you should join me. For family gatherings, groups of friends or simply couples, this is a restaurant to divert to.Highly recommended.

Read the review by Bollonbear. His/her review is spot on ..... great value for the only restaurant in town. The Dutch couple are not here to make a fortune .... they feed the town! They have a set menu, salad bar plus, a cheese selection and a choice of three entrees and dessert. Wine is part of the meu meal and price. Tourists are welcome and we had a long conversation with Ingrid learning how a Dutch couple turned-up in a very small French town. But this is the only place in town so you are eating local and it's good tasting food at a great price. Don't let the outward appearance fool you ..... inside is a very friendly, worldly couple who know how to feed hungry people. If you get here you will enjoy the memories.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. The first visit was disappointing and sad to say so was the second. We re-visited as friends expressed their surprise when we told them we were not impressed with this restaurant. This occasion service as previously was excellent, very friendly and helpful. It has to be said, the restaurant itself is lovely and in a perfect setting. It is let down badly by it's food. The lamb dish tasted more like mutton than lamb, the sauce was greasy and the vegetables were over cooked. The desserts tasted and looked like they are bought from the local supermarket. Could be a fabulous place but only if the chef ups his game and cooks decent food.

We both had the gammon steaks and trimmings and very good at under 10.00â¬. Service was good and staff friendly, only a very small carafe of vin rouge and water with the meal as off to Karaoke afterwards in a local bar and have to be very mindful of the French Drinking and Driving Rules. It looks like the Childrens Play Area has been updated quite a bit since we last visited. Ideal for children and not a problem for adults as French Children tend to be better behaved when out and about when compared to some of the UK's offspring.

Living like a god in France, who doesnât want that? The Burgundian French life includes of course a nice meal. The restaurant Les Moulins de la Vergne serves traditional cuisine prepared from local, fair and only fresh and seasonal ingredients. Trendsette
I can't believe the other reviews ! We were met on the terrace and asked if we would like a large or a small bottle of Perrier - when I asked for a small one was told he only had large - when it came it was Badoit - he said it was the same thing - had bubbles. Our friends then arrived and we had a menu forced on us with pressure to order. We did and went into the restaurant to find it waiting on the table - no water, no napkins - until asked for. My seafood starter was wet to say the least - when he was asked if it was frozen - most definitely not was the reply - it came out of a tin - this was the daily "special" (not). The carpaccio of beef was OK I understand, the other 2 starters were mediocre at best. Mains were fine and desserts were ok. A trip to the WC revealed no WC paper and no hand towels - when I asked the same young Dutch chap - he replied he wouldnt know if he wasn't told - snippy back when I remarked maybe he should check periodically. Overall quite a grotty experience and if the meals were prepared by a properly trained chef - I'm the Dutchman !! Won;t be back even though we live locally.Since 1 March 2014 are we the new owners of the restaurant and the camping Les Moulins de la Vergne. So we will invite you to come see our new restaurant

very French. a great menu choice. Friendly staff and the balcony restaurant upstairs allows guests to view the many shows and activities of local performing artists. Reasonable price and authentic French cuisine. Shame they have taken the Mussels off the menu but there are lots of choices.

Went here as a party of six. Atmosphere was great as busy with French clientele. The service was excellent. We all ate off the set menu which although limited offered enough choice for the six of us and reasonable at â¬15 for two courses. I chose mozzarella with sliced tomatoes for starter, duck breast in a raspberry sauce for main with frites. My wife took the same starter and a main of Salt Cod pie as main. The food was excellent and the house Rose and red wines were very good. All set in the lovely town of Pons.Thoroughly recommend it.
